Match Reports

Senior Ladies Football

Bray 8-14 Clara 1-4

An unBELieveable start to the season saw Bray’s Senior Ladies defeat Clara with a comfortable 7-9 winning margin earlier this month.
Our 2017 debut match in Division One of the Wicklow League kicked off on an unseasonably warm April evening. The fresh panel of women- the largest and strongest that we’ve seen in years- showed great promise for the games to come as we covered the familiar stomping ground of Old Conna’s pitch 4.
Bray’s Juliette Fortune was the top scorer on the day, with an impressive 2-5 under her belt at the final whistle, where the overall score was 8-14 to 1-5. Meanwhile, Síofra Heffernan stood up to the plate as umpire in the first half and, having forgotten her glasses, her performance will ensure that she will never don the white coat again. Stick to the forward line Síof.
Juliette Fortune (2-5), Orlaith Whelan (1-2), Mikaela Shelley (1-1), Jane Butler, Lauren Rowe (0-3 each), Seona Michel (0-02), Naomi Doonan, Aoife Gillan (0-1 each).

Dublin U-15 Hurling League Division 4

Bray Emmets 7-9 - Counsel Gaels 0-3

Bray Emmets U-15 Hurlers continued their progress through the Dublin League with a comprehensive win over a very competitive and sporting Counsel Gaels side on Sunday 23rd April.

The first half was extremely competitive on a big pitch in perfect hurling conditions, and scores were hard to come by. Ben opened with a fine point from play, before Sam put some daylight between the sides with a brace of goals. Ben scored twice more, one an excellent ‘65’ and Cathal and Sam added further points to send the sides to half time on a 0-0 to 2-4 scoreline. At the start of the second half, Bray struck an early goal and further points and the game opened up. With the backs refusing to yield a score, and feeding good ball into the forwards, and a MOM performance from Peter at midfield, the forwards linked well to add scores. Brian added 2-1, Sam 2-0, Rory 1-1 and with Peter and Fionn chipping in with a point each, Bray were not to be caught. Excellent work again in defence, all of them Eoin, Zack, Aaron, Jack, Dan F and Adam, having particularly good games. Sam was again lethal especially going forward, and the forwards put in a very good shift, with excellent work from Rian, Ben, Rory and Cathal.

Special thanks to Counsel Gaels. The official referee failed to appear and they provided the referee who was excellent.

Team: Fionn (0-1). Eoin, Aaron, Jack, Dan F, Adam, Zack, Peter (0-1), Sam (4-1), Rian, Ben (0-3), Cathal( 0-1), Brian (2-1), Rory (1-1), Dan M , Conor, Andrew.Unavailable: Tadhg Mac, Tadhg A.

Camogie U14

Emmet Bhré  5-6 - Ballinacor  4-3.

The U14 Camogie team played Ballinacor on Mon 24 April in scenic Glenmalure. The game was very close all through, with Ballinacor leading at later stages – but Bray Emmets had a purple patch in the final 10 minutes which lead to deserved scores and accompanying kudos. Bhí Eugene Canavan agus Neal O’Doherty an-sásta leis an toradh.

Foireann : Áine Farrell, Alannah Harrington, Amy Butler (Captaen), Aoife Canavan, Ellen O’Doherty, Erica Brierton, Fionnuala Crowley, Jasmine Kennedy, Kaleigh Broderick, Madge Redmond, Róisín Benville, Saoirse Canavan, Sarah Lambe. Bainisteoir -  Brian Lambe.

Camogie U16

Emmet Bhré  2-8 - Ballyboden  1-2.

The U16 Camogie team had a very good league game against Ballyboden, Sat 29 April. Ballyboden had a handful of genuinely dominant players, yet it was Bray’s overall work-rate, fearlessly hooking, blocking and hunger for the 50/50 balls that was the difference when the final whistle sounded. While it was a huge team effort, very distinguished displays came from Ciara Slattery, Laura Butler, Laura McGarry and Emma Doyle. Bhí Tomás agus Anne iontach bródúil as an bhfoireann ar fad.

Foireann : Neasa Ryder, Áine Farrell, Róisín Murphy, Laura Butler, Amy Healy, Emma Doyle, Caoimhe Byrne, Sinéad Quigley, Laura McGarry, Ciara Slattery, Rachel Rice, Róisín Benville, Sarah Lambe, Úna Smierciak, Alice O’Doherty. Bainisteoir – Anne Carroll.
