Leinster senior club hurling 2016 Div 2

Bray Emmets 2-19 Vs Harps 1-9

Harps of Laois travelled up to Bray last Saturday (19th March), to play the third and final match of the group. Having won their opening two matches our boys knew they were in for a tough match. However this wasn’t to be the case, our lads completely over ran the Laois boys in the first half scoring 2.13 in the process to only 2 points by the Harps.

It started from the back line right through to the forward line, complete domination, Darragh Henderson, Lukie Maloney and Peter Walsh hardly let a ball into Lohan and Darragh Maloney who was in the goal instead of Peter O’Reilly. Christy(4) and Mikey(2.6) were running the show up front, and Philip Collins and John Henderson(1) in control at mid field, Padge Doyle(2) also adding to the tally . The second half did prove to be more competitive and the Laois boys with only 2 points on the board surely needed a huge improvement and in fairness to them, they won the second half 1.7 to 6, but it was Bray that ran out emphatic winners on a score line of 2.19 to 1.9 at the final whistle, on a day that saw three Maloney brothers, two Lohan’s, two Henderson’s, two McCormack’s and two Walsh’s line out, the band rolls on. Karl Lacey and Gearoid Murphy came on in the second half and did well, this win should see us through to the next stage of the competition but not sure as all is not finalised yet. Once again great support for the lads, many thanks to all who got over to cheer us on, greatly appreciated.

Team: Darragh Maloney, Sean Maloney, Peter Kiely, Daire Lohan, Peter Walsh, Darragh Henderson, Luke Maloney, John Henderson,(1) Philip Collins, Christy Moorehouse,(4) Diarmuid Masterson(2)Eoin McCormack(1) Michael Lee (2.8) Padge Doyle (3) Shane Lohan, Karl Lacey, Michael Walsh, Paul Barry, Gearoid Murphy, Liam Kenny and Ben McCormack.

U16 Hurlers

Bray Emmets 8-10 Monageer-Boolavogue 1-5

The U16 Hurlers advanced to the quarter finals of the Leinster League Div 1 with a comfortable win v their Wexford opponents.

Bray Emmets dominated possession from the very start however a tendency to try to go for goals meant a score line of 4-3 to 1-4 was closer than it should have been at half time.

The lads were even more dominant in the 2nd half and settled down to score point and goals from all areas of the pitch.

This was a very good team performance with all players contributing to an emphatic victory. Tougher challenges lie ahead in the quarter finals where the opposition will either be from Offaly or Westmeath.

Team: MacDara Ó Midheach, Seanie McDonagh, Donnchadh Griffin-Caroll, Tony Jackson, Ben Kearney, Sid Hunt, Darragh Rochford, Ciaran McKay(0-1), Joe Phelan, James Anders (1-0), Ronan McMahon (1-1),  Andy Conway (0-3), Rory Lambe (1-2), Sam Kearney (1-1), Cian Lohan (1-0), David Maloney (2-2), Mick O’Gara(1-0), Michael Timmins, David Nesbitt.

U10 Camogie blitz

Bray Emmets  Vs Thomas Davis & St Brigids

We played two games at Ballybodens ground. The match against Thomas Davis was very close and went end to end. Had all the look of a draw but right at the end some great link up play with Annie and Emily put Aine through on goal for the late winner. We started well against St Brigids and took the leak with a goal from Saibh but despite some great saves from Annie they took the lead. We had some great chances in the second half but we didn't manage to get the score back we needed.

U14 Girls Football

Emmet Bhré  4-3 Vs O’Dwyers (Balbriggan)  5-8

The Under 14 Girls Football team played a Dublin league game out in the extremities of North county Dublin, Sunday morning 20th March.  This O’Dwyers unit contained a number of Dublin panelists and are leading the division with some crushing victories. Ignoring the hype, Bray started with all guns blazing. Goals came from Orla O’Keeffe and Carla Lennon. Bray led 2-2 to 1-2 at the break.

The second-half was a tougher proposition. O’Dwyers started with greater vim. Bray struggled to react first to breaking ball, while the Dublin panel galácticos pumped valuably acquired ball into their full-forward line. Goals invariably followed. Amy Butler, Rachel Horan, Saoirse Canavan and Rebecca Mahon continued to shine through this grittier period, while Sarah Lambe and Carla Lennon found the net.  The game will stand Bray in good stead, but hats off to the gallant opposition.
