U 10 Leinster Blitz

All-Leinster U10 girls football blitz  in aid of Climb4Clare: volunteers needed
In Bray Ememts on Sunday 19th  there will be a massive event open to all U10 girls teams in Leinster. The event is being run by the LGFA and they are expecting over 50 teams to attend, which is over 500 girls plus parents. This will be great exposure for Bray Emmets and could lead to this being an annual event. The LGFA are also raising money for the Climb4Clare cancer support charity.

We need volunteers to run the kitchen, manage traffic and generally help out from 10am to 3pm.  Please contact Alan Kennedy at or 086 6085374

We will only be able to enter one U10 team but I hope the rest of the girls will come up to support their team-mates and to enjoy the morning. Relatives & friends are welcome too.

Match reports

U-14 Wicklow Hurling

Bray Emmets 8-13    Glenealy 3-5

The U-14s welcomed Glenealy to Old Conna on a foggy Wednesday night last 8/06/2016. Gleanealy travelled with 12 players, so from the throw in there was plenty of space even on pitch 2 which Emmets quickly exploited. The early exchanges saw Glenealy take a 0-2 to 0-1 lead but the inside forwards Zack, Brian, Gavin and Cian secured a steady supply of excellent possession from Jack, Cathal and Rory at midfield and had Emmets comfortably ahead after 20 minutes. The backs were their usual solid selves, Adam excellent at centre back, Tadhg anticipating and clearing well and Eoin and Aaron securing the back line and offering solid protection to Ben who was as dependable as ever in nets. With an excellent turnout of 20 players Emmets had plenty of players to bring on, and Luan Art, Sebastian and Rian came on after 20 minutes to play a big role in driving Emmets on. At half time, Emmets were comfortably ahead on a score of 6-5 to 2-4. In the second half, Fionn took over in goal and Daniel F, Daniel M and Conor stepped in to play their part, and Emmets added a further 2-8 to their tally and refused to let Glenealy back into the game, which finished Bray Emmets 8-13 Gleanely 3-5.

Special mention to Jack who was a power house all night and Adam, Sebastian, Tadhg, Luan and Rory who never let Glenealy settle on the ball, and Gavin and Brian whose excellent score-taking secured a platform for the win.

This was an excellent team performance, the lads showed tremendous fight to win possession. They distributed the ball well, took good scores and their discipline was excellent throughout.

Team: Ben, Aaron, Eoin, Tadhg, Adam, Cathal (0-1), Jack (2-2), Rory, Cian (1-0), Gavin (2-4), Zack (0-1), Brian (2-4), Luan, Art (1-0), Rian, Daniel F (0-1), Daniel M, Conor G, Sebastian (1-0), Fionn.

U-14 Wicklow Hurling

Bray Emmets 8-6 AGB 6-6

The U-14 Hurlers secured a hard fought win against a skilled and competitive AGB side in Arklow on Wednesday night 25/05/2016. On a sunny evening and playing with the aid of a freshening breeze Emmets repelled some early Parnells’ attacks before scoring a number of quick goals through Rory and Brian and looked to have control of the tie. Parnells’ refused to yield and stayed in touch with some excellent point taking and a number of goals taken just before half time in a half that seemed very long. The teams took the break with Emmets leading 4-5 to 3-3, but the sense that the momentum had shifted towards Parnells’ continued. The first 15 minutes of the second half saw no score on either side as the teams played to a stalemate in the middle third of the pitch, then Parnells’ started the find their mark with some well struck frees and found the net again to give a real urgency to the final quarter as Parnells’, came to within a point. Further goals from Rory, Philip, Brian and Sam settled Emmets and they ran out worthy 2 goal winners. Everybody played his part but special mention to Jamie, Tadhg, Aaron, and Luan who were excellent in defence all night and to Brian, and Rory in the forwards who scored 3 goals each.  A welcome back to Sam who returned after a long injury, Fionn who has re-joined the side and Conor who made his debut with Bray Emmets on the night.

Team: Gavin, Daniel F, Aaron, Jamie, Tadhg, Adam, Luan, Sam (1-2), Peter, Andrew, Fionn, Philip(0-1), Rian, Rory(3-0), Brian(3-2), Jack, Oscar(0-1), Daniel M, Conor, Cian.

U10 Girls Football Blitz

We had a football blitz in Roundwood where we played three matches.  First off we lost again to Ashford who have some good players but a little loss of concentration in defence let them in for some easy scores. Next we played Ashford and had a very competitive game that rightly finished as a draw. Although we let them score too easily again.  The team talk for the last game focused on defence and teamwork and it really showed in the last game against An Tochar. Our poor keeper never even got a touch because our mids and forwards did so well.  Ciara, Kate & Laoise played very well in all three games but Annie finished off the day with a huge point that drew gasps from the parents of both sides.

Foireann: Aine, Anna, Annie, Grace R, Ciara, Kate B, Laoise, Rosa, Teagan, Zoe
