Games Development Officer


Bray Emmets GAA Club wishes to recruit a Games Development Officer who will help develop and grow the club by increasing membership and also educating and supporting our club mentors and coaches in adopting consistent and professional coaching methods.

This position requires a person with:

  • Proven Leadership skills and a charismatic personality
  • Excellent interpersonal , communications and Coach Educating skills
  • Sound judgement and initiative
  • Level 1 coaching qualification in Hurling and Football and a minimum three years working with juveniles from 5 years and older.
  • Full clean driving license

The Games Development Officer post is a full-time position.

Job Specification for Games Development Officer in Bray Emmets

The Games Development Officer’s duties:

  1. Implement the club coaching strategy.
  2. Co-ordinate and extend Bray Emmet’s primary and secondary school coaching programme – become the ‘Face of Bray Emmets’ in the schools .
  3. Actively recruit players into the Academy age group and increase the number of players on team panels by actively recruiting players from the schools in Bray.
  4. Facilitate the development of a culture whereby all players play Gaelic Games in Bray Emmets in a fun and safe environment.
  5. Facilitate education opportunities for club coaches and encourage a consistent Bray Emmets style of coaching and play. Provide regular feedback to all club coaches.
  6. Engage with parents to facilitate player retention and to encourage them to take up coaching roles.
  7. Ensure, in co-operation with team coaches and Children’s Officers that all players and mentors adopt the Club code of conduct and understand the rules of the association.
  8. Organise and manage camps (Easter, Mid-Terms and others as are planned)
  9. Undertake other duties from time to time as requested by the Coaching Officer.


Essential requirements:

A minimum of 3 year’s club coaching experience working with boys and girls from Academy age and older, in Football and Hurling is required.

Level 1 Coaching qualification in Hurling and Football.

Full, clean driving license and own car.

  9. Continuous professional development including the GAA’s coaching and skill development initiatives appropriate to age groups from Academy and older in Hurling and Football.

Reporting structure:

The Development Officer will report to the Chairman, Coaching Committee who is a member of the Club Management Committee with regard to all day to day coaching matters.
