Under 10 Hurling

Setanta HC v Bray Emmets, Dublin League, 5th April

Our under 10 hurling team kept up their excellent start to their Dublin League campaign with a fine performance against Setanta HC in Ballymun on Saturday morning. Family Confirmations and a rugby trip to Limerick had left the squad without many of their key players, but those left to see out this fixture did so with great skill and determination. Bray Emmets only conceded one goal due to terrific and tenacious defending by Oscar, Cal and Fiachra, supported by the solid goalkeeping of Dara, in the first half, and Nathan in the second.

Nathan had already opened the scoring for Bray with a well struck shot in the first half. This was added to by a superb point from Adam Prunty, following a great solo run by Adam Dutton down the right wing midway through the opening period. The midfield was very well marshaled by Alex and Cathal, who got the ball through to forwards Jamie and Cillian at every opportunity, to keep intense pressure on the Setanta goal. Jamie added a second goal five minutes from the end to seal a well-deserved win for the Bray team. All 11 players can be immensely proud of their display on Saturday. The under 10s are improving with every game, a point which was also noted by the Setanta coaches who, at the end of the match, expressed their admiration for the way Bray had played throughout.

U14 hurlers

The U14 hurlers played another Dublin league, division two game against Sylvesters, Malahide, Friday 11th April. The Bray team expressed themselves with panache from the initial throw-in. A wide range of scores came from Andrew Conway, Rory Lambe and David Maloney.
James Anders and Donnchadh Griffin-Carroll were particularly good in the opening tentative exchanges.

In the second-half, while Bray took their feet somewhat off the gas, two great goals from Ronan McMahon and Ciarán McKay ended the fixture as a contest.  Bhí ard-mholadh ag dul do gach éinne a bhí páirteach ann.

Emmet Bhré  5-14,
Sylvesters   3-4.

U12 Girls football

The U12 Girls Football team played Oliver Plunketts on Sunday 6th April. It was a fine day for good quality football and the girls did not fail to deliver. Early scores came from Sarah Lambe, Síofra Ní Mhidigh and Orla O'Keeffe, while Sophie Blennerhasset rattled the net with a great goal.  In the second-half, Orla Jackson and Jordan O'Brien got eye-catching scores to fuel the Bray assault. However, it was the superior performances of Róisín Murphy and Emma Doyle which deserved our finest plaudits. Faraor, sa deireadh bhí an bua ag Oliver Plunketts agus comhghairdeas leo.  Foireann : Aoife Canavan, Caoimhe Purcell, Eimear Timmons, Emily Riddell, Emma Doyle, Eva Moloney, Jordan O'Brien (0-1), Orla Jackson (0-1), Orla O'Keeffe (0-1), Rachel Horan, Rachel Messitt, Róisín Murphy, Saoirse Canavan, Sarah Lambe (0-1), Sinéad Quigley, Síofra Ní Mhidigh (0-2), Sophie Blennerhasset (1-1). U12 Camogie

The U12 Camogie team played Naomh Ólaf on Sat 12th April. This was a lively, competitive match against a tall Sandyford side. However, the girls knuckled down and gave a hard-working display. Áine Farrell, Amy Butler and Pearl O'Connor combined to raise green flags, while Sarah-Lily Lynch and Caoimhe Byrne played vital roles in the engine-room.

In the second-half, Saoirse Canavan's goal and Síofra Ní Mhidigh's masterclass at centre-back contributed significantly to a 4 point victory for Bray Emmets. Bhí an bua seo tuillte go mór againn.

U14 ladies Football

The  U 14 Ladies Football team played St Patricks from Donabate in the Dublin League in Phairc Emmet Bhré on Wed 9th April. The Visitors played great from the very start and it took Bray a bit of time to get going but once they did their teamwork and hard work not to mention skill won over the opposition. This was a great game of football and the girls should be very proud of their very impressive performance. Both sets of mentors were very happy with their teams performance in a good clean fast flowing game of football.

The score line of 8:4 to 4:4 did not reflect the competitive nature of the game. Well done girls!
