Wicklow v Carlow

Tuesday, January 15, 2013

Bray Emmets hosted the Bord na Mona O'Byrne Cup Group B match between Wicklow and Carlow on Wednesday, 9th January. On a bitterly cold night, a large crowd attended a keenly contested game which ended in a three point win for Carlow. Wicklow had done well to be only a point in arrears at half-time after the visitors raced into a 0-5 to 0-1 lead in the first 20 minutes. Despite having two players sent off in the second half, Carlow survived a late Wicklow rally which included a saved penalty, to hold out for victory on a final score of Wicklow 0-9 : Carlow 0-12. Harry Murphy would have been pleased to have given some of his fringe players a useful run out but overall he would have been a little frustrated by the performance. However, any disappointment will have been short lived as a stronger Wicklow side secured a superb win over Dublin in Parnell Park on Sunday.

Thank you to all the volunteers who helped with the stewarding and kept the tea flowing in the kitchen and shop. It was a great night for the Club and we hope to host more County fixtures in the near future.
