Club Notes 20th May

Monday, May 20, 2013

The numbers drawn on Friday, 17th May were 4, 7, 16 and 23 so unfortunately, there was no Match 4 winner of the Club Lotto jackpot. Dave Gilmore was the name pulled out of the hat in the Lucky Dip draw and receives €25.  Next week, the jackpot goes up to €2,700 and as always, we encourage members to register to play online or to promote the Lotto to others. Further details are available

In order to raise funds for Bray Emmets, the Club will once again host a clothing recycling drive on Saturday, 25th May. Members are asked to donate all their clean unwanted clothes, bed linen, towels and textiles including shoes, bags, belts and soft toys. Clothes and textiles should be kept separate and old mobile phones will also be accepted. Items should be dropped off before 1.00 p.m. but if you cannot make it to the Clubhouse on the day, please contact Paul Sweeney (086 3934273) before 22nd May to make alternative arrangements.

End of School Year Blitz
Girls and boys from National Schools around Bray are being asked to participate in an upcoming end of year football blitz. The games will cater for students from First Class up to Sixth Class. Participants will play with boys and girls from the same class with players being divided evenly and equally into teams. They will then play a number of friendly games where the emphasis will be on fun and full participation. Games commence on Wednesday, 22nd May and further details, including a full schedule of fixtures, are available from Dave Barry (086-1208083).

Wicklow V Kildare
The County Senior Hurlers crashed out of the Christy Ring Cup at Arklow on Saturday, 18th May and once again, it was at the hands of Kildare. Having relegated the Garden County earlier in the season, the Lilywhites really have proved to be the thorn in the side for Casey O’Brien whose team went agonisingly close to securing the win they so badly craved. Trailing by six at half-time, Wicklow rallied in the second half and looked the likely winners in the closing stages. However, a Kildare point in injury time decided the match to leave the home side heartbroken once more on a final scoreline of Wicklow 2-10 Kildare 0-17. The season is now over for the County Hurlers but our thanks to Mikey Lee, John Henderson, Christy Moorehouse and Eoin Mason who represented the Club with pride throughout the year.

Welcome win for Junior Hurlers

The Junior Hurlers welcomed Carnew to Páirc Emmet Bhré last Wednesday, 15th May. Two fine goals from Liam Kenny and further points from Dara Maloney and Tom Cash gave Bray an early and deserved first-half lead.  Sustained second-half pressure from John Ward and Luke O'Reilly kept the momentum going, while experienced full-back Tadhg Ó Broin averted many Carnew attacks. The score of the half was a monstrous point from play by half-back Ryan Tynan. Beidh Áth na Sceire ag tabhairt cuairte orainn ar an gCéadaoin ag 7:30pm. Final score: Emmet Bhré 2-18, Carnew 0-17.

U10 Girls play in Naomh Ólaf

The U-10 Girls' Football team played in Naomh Ólaf on Saturday, 18th May. Our first game was against the girls from Robert Emmets, the former club of big Niall Quinn. The game was well-contested but the Bray girls were a more seasoned, clinical outfit.  Great scores came from Eimear Timmons and Chloe Messitt. In the second game, we played the host team, Naomh Olaf. The Sandyford girls were strong. We lost the first-half. However, in the second-half Sarah Lambe, Eirinn Doyle and an energetic Laura Doyle ensured a one point win for Tony's gallant Under-10's.  Comhgairdeas leo ar fad agus buíochas mór le Naomh Olaf. Emmet Bhré U-10: Amy Butler, Aoife Carter, Chloe Messitt (0-1), Eimear Timmons (2-2), Éirinn Doyle, Laura Doyle, Méadhbh Wogan-Murphy, Sarah Lambe (0-4). Bainisteoir - Tony Doyle.
