U9/U10 Groups return
Monday, February 13, 2012
The 2002/2003 Group are back to training on Saturdays
starting at 10.00 sharp until 11.45. Hurling is on every
Saturday with Gaelic Football on every Tuesday starting on February
7th from 7 sharp to 8. Both Hurling and Football will be on
grass so please bring your football boots. We are always looking
for new members both boys and girls and if you wish to find out
more about the group please contact Tom Kearney on 0863983399 or
email brayemmetsacademy@gmail.com. We are also
looking for new coaches, training will be provided.
The main aim for this group is to learn the
skills in a safe but competitive environment and to ensure that the
group will be playing Gaelic Games into their teens and adulthood.
Hurling and Football by their nature are physical games and we make
no apology for teaching players to be comfortable in the
physicality of the games (this goes for Boys and Girls!)
We don't judge players on ability but on honesty and effort
in performance as well as a strong teamwork focus. We look to
challenge players to play as a team but also think for
themselves in match situations. Discipline is very important to the
group and respect for each other, our opponents and match officials
cannot be highly stressed enough.
The Group will be involved in hurling
competitions in Dublin. The Dublin competition will involve a
home and away arrangement, the opposition will be Southside Teams
and for the most part on or just off the M50 motorway. For those
with Smartphones there is an App that can be downloaded called
Hill16 pitch locator which is a GPS locator for pitches
that we will be playing in. For details just go to the
Hill16.ie website.
Due to the numbers involved it has been decided that the
2002/2003 group will be split into two even squads. The squads will
be then split into two teams and we have been asked to match teams
according to ability (this only applies to Dublin matches). Each
squad will be playing every second game, the squad not playing will
be training and visa versa. Each player should have a hurley and
helmet and we suggest wearing shin guards for hurling.
The entire group will be involved in the Wicklow Go Games
which will be run from April to September in both football and
hurling, details of fixtures are not to hand but normally the
matches are on a Friday evening.
Please feel free to contact Tom Kearney with queries or
why not bring your child along to training and see our great
facilities.
