St Pats

6 October, 2008

The U16 girls were beaten by St Pats in the semi finals of the B Wicklow championship. The score line suggested that this was an easy win for St Pats but this was far from the case as the girls performed excellently in the first half. Despite missing some of their players, they played their best football so far this season in the first period with some beautiful executed moves from the forwards leading to great goals by Alisha Doyle, Jennifer O'Brien, and Lauren Roe. They were unlucky to be down a couple of points going into half time. Unfortunately as has been the case for much of the season the girls ran out of steam  in the second half and St Pats pulled away with some well taken goals.  The backs worked hard, particularly Jennifer Ryan, Emer, and Sarah Longmore. The midfield pair of Carly and Rachel Cunningham, before she retired injured, worked hard and managed to get some good ball into the forwards. The girls have shown steady improvement all year  and with a bit more fitness and tactical nous they can become much more competitive.
