U16 Girls draw with Naomh Barrog (Kilbarrack) | 9 March, 2013 |
What a start to the new season! In what turned out to be a
thrilling game against Naomh Barrog (Kilbarrack), the Bray girls
began on the front foot with scores from Juliette Fortune, Seona
Michel and Caoimhe Lohan. However, Naomh Barrog didn't sit back and
registered some fine scores themselves. Our goalkeeper Sophie
Connolly was in great form, as were our back three, Lauren Kelly
Anna Ryan and our captain Jessica Conway who again led by example.
Our forwards kept the scoreboard ticking over with some fine points
as a result of quick hand passing moves. Molly Hunt and Amy Barry
were involved in some fine scores from the corner forward
positions. Quick ball out of defence from our half-backs Grace
O'Donovan, Roisin Corrigan and Niamh Sullivan served our
midfielders and half-forwards well with Ruby Stewart, Shauna
Douglas and Ciara Nolan producing some fine link play. At the
break, Bray Emmets led by a point. The second half saw Naomh Barrog
come out with all guns blazing and racing into a six-point lead.
Our two replacements, Orla Gleeson and Rachel Cullen, who were
introduced at half-time, started to win possession down the right
wing and the comeback began. Some fantastic scores from Seona,
Caoimhe, Juliette and Shauna, as well as two fine saves by Sophie
and some great defending by our backs, got Bray right back in the
match. In the last five minutes, Naomh Barrog were twice saved by
the woodwork to leave the final score Bray Emmets 3-9 Naomh Barrog
(Kilbarrack) 3-9. A great match to be part of and great
performances by all involved.

We had a good start to our U16 Girls B Championship last
Saturday in Emmet Bre Park. This was the Quarter Final against St
Nicholas, Dunlavin Team. The Bray Girls found it very
hard to settle in the first half, and with lack of concentration
and silly mistakes we went in 7 points down at half
time. After a good talking to, a very different team
came out for the second half. The girls played together
as a team.Their passing skills, general fitness and
determination to win this game, overcame a very good Dunlavin
team. Our Bray girls never gave up and we won the game
with a 4 point margin.

An Tochar | 11 May, 2009 |
Bray Emmets 7-6 to An Tochar 4-2
Our second match of the league and our first win.
With only a panel of 7 in U16 we made up the squad with our
U14's, and with a very strong cross with it took a little while for
our girls to settle.
An Tochar hit the net first and this then put the Bray girls
under pressure. Aoife O'Donovan (U14) got us on the score board.
And we were full steam ahead after that Aoife then scored another

from Bray.

St Pats | 6 October, 2008 |
The U16 girls were beaten by St Pats in the semi finals of the B
Wicklow championship. The score line suggested that this was an
easy win for St Pats but this was far from the case as the girls
performed excellently in the first half. Despite missing some of
their players, they played their best football so far this season
in the first period with some beautiful executed moves from the
forwards leading to great goals by Alisha Doyle, Jennifer O'Brien,
and Lauren Roe. They were unlucky to be down a couple of points
going into half time. Unfortunately as has been the case for much
of the season the girls ran out of steam in the second half
and St Pats pulled away with some well taken goals. The backs
worked hard, particularly Jennifer Ryan, Emer, and Sarah Longmore.
The midfield pair of Carly and Rachel Cunningham, before she
retired injured, worked hard and managed to get some good ball into
the forwards. The girls have shown steady improvement all
year and with a bit more fitness and tactical nous they can
become much more competitive.

Friendly Game V Kilmacud Crokes | 14 April, 2008 |
The under 16's girls football team had a challenge match against
Kilmacud Crokes after the senior match. Despite it being their
first match this year, the Bray girls played very well in an
entertaining match which both sides contributed to with open free
flowing play. Eventually the fitness levels told on the Bray
team and Kilmacud finished off the stronger to win by a
couple of goals.
All the players showed up well with Caoimhe Murphy
dominating the middle of the pitch until she picked up an injury.
Rachel Cunningham, Sarah Longmore, and Emer Lynch were outstanding
in the defence.
