Castleknock 8-4 V Bray Emmets 4-3
In their first outing since the summer break, Bray Emmets under
14 girls were put under early pressure in this 13-a-side game as
the hosts scored 6-1 in the first half. Bray's sole score of the
half was a goal from Orlaith Whelan as a result of an excellent
pass from Cathy Waters. Castleknock could even have scored more had
it not been for some good saves from Naoise Concannon.
Bray began to find their rhythm in the second half, as a
reorganisation of positions helped to settle the team. An early
goal, again from Orlaith Whelan, gave the team some confidence and
although Castleknock soon countered the half was a much more lively
affair. Further Bray scores came in the shape of a goal and two
points from Siofra Heffernan (1-2), whilst girl of the match Danika
Goulding, playing in a more forward role than the first half, took
a goal and a point herself.
Although Castleknock's lead was dented, they had plenty of fresh
legs (unfortunately Bray were playing without substitutes) and
managed to respond at a quick enough rate to keep their heads
comfortably in front, to win 8-4 to 4-3.
