U13 Camogie start with a win

13 July, 2012

Bray Emmets U13 camogie team started their championship campaign in fine form last Friday night with a win over Carnew Emmets in Glenealy. The match was played on a very sodden surface with contributed to a low scoring and sometime scrappy encounter. Carnew were first on the score board, somewhat against the run of play, with a long range effort which just crossed the goal line. Bray bounced back with a goal from Niamh Mc Cormack struck from a 21m free. Halftime saw both teams sharing the lead.

The second half saw total domination from Bray started by a well taken individual goal hand passed to the net by Jane Butler. Sustained pressure resulted in a further two goals for Bray. The work rate of the Bray team, their determination and fighting spirit ensured that Carnew had no opportunity to get back into the match. Thanks to all in Glenealy who organised and refereed the game. A fine all round team performance sees the girls progress to a quarter final against the winners of Donard and Ballinacor on 27th July 2012.
