The Under 13 Camogie team played Annacurra in Emmet Bhré on Friday Aug 1st. This was the B semi-final as we had previously suffered a narrow defeat against Carnew. The girls put in a great performance on Friday against a very strong Annacurra team. Laura McGarry took on the role of goalie for the first half and cleared some strong attempts by the Annacurra girls. Jordan O Brien and Neasa Ryder did a great job on defending the goal. In the half back line Eleanor Carroll Hayes and Alannah Henry made life quite difficult for Annacurra winning the ball and moving it up the field quickly and efficiently. Laura Butler and Leah Carroll dominated mid field getting lots of ball in to the forwards and getting some great scores themselves.Amy Butler, Sarah Lily Lynch and Catherine McGarry gave a great account of themselves in the forward lines. Orla Jackson played her part too and took over in goals in the second half and guarded the net well. The Annacurra girls played hard right until the end but ultimately the Bray girls were too strong for them. Final score Bray 14-3 Annacurra 1-1. Bray Emmets U13 camogie team started their championship campaign
in fine form last Friday night with a win over Carnew Emmets in
Glenealy. The match was played on a very sodden surface with
contributed to a low scoring and sometime scrappy encounter. Carnew
were first on the score board, somewhat against the run of play,
with a long range effort which just crossed the goal line. Bray
bounced back with a goal from Niamh Mc Cormack struck from a 21m
free. Halftime saw both teams sharing the lead.
The second half saw total domination from Bray started by a well
taken individual goal hand passed to the net by Jane Butler.
Sustained pressure resulted in a further two goals for Bray. The
work rate of the Bray team, their determination and fighting spirit
ensured that Carnew had no opportunity to get back into the match.
Thanks to all in Glenealy who organised and refereed the game. A
fine all round team performance sees the girls progress to a
quarter final against the winners of Donard and Ballinacor on 27th
July 2012.
