Camogie Blitz in Cuala
The U12 Camogie team played in a 4 team Dublin blitz in Cuala CLG, Sat 31 Oct. This was a great opportunity for us to play a variety of good camogie teams. First up, was Ballinteer St Johns, a skillful group of girls who pipped us by one goal despite the perseverance and energy of Pearl O’Connor and Kaleigh Broderick.
In the second game, we managed a more comprehensive win against a tenacious Roundtowers. Bray Emmets had found a better rhythm by that point, with Áine Farrell, Mary-Anne Aherne and Sarah Lambe rolling up their sleeves.
In the third game, defending against an unbeaten Cuala was our collective task. We were eager to prove we were the best team of the four, despite our shaky start. Róisín Benville, Amy Butler, Saoirse Canavan made huge efforts for the cause, while a vital save by Erica Brierton facilitated a richly deserved, but narrow Bray Emmets victory. A very audible outpouring of joy from players and loyal followers rang through the Deansgrange air! Bhain chuile dhuine an-sult is taitneamh as an gcomórtas seo.

Bray Emmets Vs Kilmacud
The U12 Camogie team played Kilmacud Crokes, Sat 9th May in a very sporting, free-flowing encounter. The Stillorgan girls were skilful and capable as ever, so Bray had to work hard to stand shoulder to shoulder. Poppy Cotter brought off some great first-half saves to the delight of her defensive stalwarts Pearl O’Connor and Fionnuala Crowley. A highlight of the opening period was a great Ellen O’Doherty goal, assisted in no small way by Erica Brierton and the tenacious Áine Farrell.
In the second-half, Bray continued to beaver away, Mary Anne Aherne and Kaleigh Broderick giving their last gasp for the cause. Kilmacud however had other ideas and were the worthy winners at the end of a thoroughly enjoyable joust.

| U12 Camogie gain the upperhand against Carnew | 25 May, 2012 |
Bray Emmets U12 camogie team travelled to Carnew on Friday
last for the latest round of the Wicklow U12 league. Great credit
must go to both sides for sustaining an absorbing game in
persistent rain and biting cold conditions. The Bray girls came out
of the block quickly and a period of sustained pressure resulted in
a fine point from a 65 free by Rachel Rice. A goal from the ever
threating and impressive Ailbhe Byrne followed some sustained
pressure by Molly Fitzgerald and Rachel Rice in midfield. A Carnew
point soon followed but not before a second goal scored from the
ever threatening Lauren Mc Kenna in the full forward position.
Carnew added a goal before the break to leave the score at 2:01 to
1:01 to Bray.
The second half started in frantic fashion when Bray powered
ahead through a well taken goal from Ali Byrne who doubled on the
sliotars in mid-flight. Carnew pulled a second goal back before
Rachel Rice pointed from a long range effort on her half back line.
A well taken point from play from Tricia Phelan put some level of
comfort between the teams. The remaining minutes of match saw
resurgence from Carnew who put the Bray back line under a lot of
pressure which was expertly dealt with by Maeve O Doherty and Brona
Murphy.
It was a very brave performance from the Bray girls in the
inclement conditions and particularly in a venue where few Bray
team have been on the right side of the score line. Particular
mention should go Olivia Duffy, Lauren Healy and Ailbhe Byrne who
all impressed with their work rate and commitment throughout the
match.
Bray ran out eventual winner on a score line of 3:02 to
2:01.

| U12 Camogie start league campaign | 4 May, 2012 |
Bray Emmets U12 camogie team started their Wicklow U12
league campaign in Annacurra on Friday night with a two goal draw.
The Bray girls were dominant across the pitch from 1 to 11 and had
a remarkable number of goal and point scoring opportunities to put
the game beyond any doubt.
The game started with a Bray flourish and domination of
the home opposition but scores were very hard to come by. A number
of sorties into the Bray defence resulted in an undeserved lead for
the home side at half time. Great goal keeping skills from Eleanor
Hayes Carroll kept Bray in the match and ensured that a two goal
lead was all Annacurragh took into the second half. The combined
efforts of Molly Fitzgerald and Rachel Rice in midfield drove the
team forward and ensured that heads were not allowed to drop coming
to the break.
Katie Baguley moved into the midfield position at the
start of the second half and Bray quickly upped the tempo and a
goal followed. An equalising goal was soon scored and for a while
it looked like the flood gates would open. However, good defensive
work by the home side and some wayward shooting by the visitors
settled the score line. Commanding performances by Grace Brown and
Maeve O Doherty at the back built a solid foundation for the team.
This coupled with the work rate of Tricia Phelan, Molly Fitzgerald,
Katie Baguley, Nicole Ryan and Daisy King in the midfield area kept
constant pressure on the home side. Rachel Rice on her debut start
stood out as she moved the ball effortlessly and with skill turning
defence into attack at every opportunity. Lauren Mc Kenna and Ali
Byrne works throughout the game and were a constant threat to the
opposition goal.
It was a very commanding performance by Bray and proved
yet again that this team fails to accept defeat where ever they go.
Even on a night when goals were hard to come by they scored what
mattered and refused to leave empty handed.

Katie Baguley, Molly Fitzgerald, Daisy King, Rachel Rice, Lauren Mc

| U12 camogie V Roundtowers | 21 April, 2012 |
A great second half display by the Bray Emmets U12 camogie team
resulted in a great victory over Roundtowers in the Dublin league
on Saturday. Trailing by a goal at halftime Emmets lost their
inspirational forward Jane Butler to a serious hand injury in
virtually the first play of the second half. Now a player and a
goal down Bray faced an uphill battle to get back into the game.
However each and every one of the team put their shoulders to the
wheel to kick start a fantastic comeback.First to strike for the
Emmets was Tricia Phelan. Showing her Kilkenny and Tipperary
pedigree she rifled a 65 to the net to rock Roundtowers back on
their heels. This score inspired her team mates and Emmets competed
brilliantly all over the pitch. Playing some fantastic ground
hurling the Emmets were now in the ascendency.
In goals Olivia Duffy distributed superbly with her puck outs.
The full backline of Grace Brown and Lauren Healy defended
resolutely and expelled every Roundtowers attack. At half back
Shauna Ryan and Eve Murphy attacked every breaking ball. In
midfield Clare Benville and Olivia Mc Garry covered a huge amount
of ground and ensured that there was a steady supply of ball into
Tricia Phelan, Katie Baguley and Lauren Mc Kenna in the forwards.
Emmets needed to turn pressure into a score and Olivia Mc Garry
duly obliged. She latched onto a lose Roundtowers clearance and
showing great technique arrowed a fabulous strike to the net to
push Emmets ahead. The inevitable Roundtowers backlashes came but
try as they might they could not breakdown the Emmets defence. With
Olivia Duffy now freed to midfield and Emmets players working
tirelessly all over the pitch they pushed on to try and get further
score. After some great team work goal poacher supreme Lauren Mc
Kenna pounced for a third goal to kill off the game. By that stage
all the Bray Emmets players had played in different positions
around the pitch showing great adaptability. At the final whistle
Jane and her exhausted team mates celebrated a famous victory. A
victory which showed the true fighting spirit of this U12
squad.

Bray Emmets 3-2. Kilcoole
3-0
Following on from the Bray girls excellent game V
Annacurra 2 weeks ago where they lost 2-0 but played great camogie,
the girls were in fine form as they played their neighbours
Kilcoole in a fast paced and exciting game. In a
spirit of sportsmanship two Bray girls Emma Groves and Aoife
Connaughton donned the Kilcoole jerseys to make up numbers for
Kilcoole who were missing their players and the management of both
clubs agreed to play a 10 a side game. In the second
half Sarah Kate Hayde and Ciara Nolan donned the Kilcoole jerseys.
Despite excellent goal keeping by Eimear Ivory. Kilcoole got off to
a good start with 2 early goals however Lauren Sweeney cracked home
a beautiful point and a goal which bucked up the girls
spirits.
In the second half a different side emerged as both sides
battled for every ball. Seana Carroll had some great solo action
and scored a great goal from a hand pass and Lauren Sweeney
scored another long range point. Kilcoole got back with another
goal and a hard won goal was scored by Jane Moriarty of Bray Emmets
near the end of the second half.Throughout the game there was
great skill and sportsmanship displayed, and the girls gave
their all. The match was about skill and participation in sport and
was enjoyable for spectator and players alike. An excellent Lauren
Sweeney played a wonderful game and seemed to be everywhere on the
pitch. Seana O Carroll, Aifric Murphy and Jane Moriarty
played with tireless determination and gave their all in
midfield. In the defence Eimear Ivory in goals, Sophie Mooney
Eimear Clancy and Sarah Kate Hayd and Emma Groves gave great

strong midfield ensured early scores for their team but despite
being constantly under pressure the Bray girls never gave up. There
were some great saves from goalkeeper Caoimhe Lohan and Aoife

Great play in midfield from Seana O Carroll and Lauren

Bray Emmets 4-0 St Patrick's
4-0
It was hoped that this would be a very special game,
and it was in every way a great game for players and spectators
alike. There were wonderful displays of camogie skills and great
friendly rivalry between the Bray Emmet girls and the local school
team from St Patrick's. A night of divided loyalties, friendly
rivalry and much mirth between the coaches on the night, as some of
the St Patrick's girls play for Bray Emmets. It was hard to believe
that some of the girls have been playing for less than a year and
even harder to believe that some of the girls haven't even reached
their 10th
birthday!
Strong playing and good skills were evident in all areas
on both sides. Every player played to the best of their ability and
it would be hard to pick out any one for special praise.
Bray Emmets got off to a strong start with 2 fine goals
and were leading at half time. A spirited St Patricks fought back
and levelled the score in the second half and Bray Emmets added
another goal to their score halfway through the
2nd half and St
Patricks added a third goal to their tally. One more goal was
scored for each side to make the score a magnificent draw of 4-4 at
the final whistle.

| Knockananna | 6 June, 2008 |
The u12 Camogie team met with Knockananna on Friday
6th June in our
grounds in Old Conna. A strong Knockananna side got a few early
goals and were leading by 4 goals at half time. The Bray girls
however never gave up and put up a spirited performance. There was
some excellent play from Seana O Carroll, Shauna Douglas , Lauren
Barry and Lauren Sweeney in midfield and great defence play from
Isobel Horner(capt) , Sarah Hayd , Emma Groves and goal keeper
Aoife Connaughton . The
2nd half saw a different
side with much improved play but try as they might they were denied
a score, the girls gave their all up to the final whistle. Goal
keeper Aoife Connaughton saved many shots and was kept busy during
the game. New girl Emer Curtin played her first match and gave a
very good account of herself in the
2nd
half.
Team: Aoife Connaughton, Sarah Hayd. Emma Groves, Isobel
Horner(capt), Lauren Sweeney, Shauna Douglas, Aifric Murphy, Jenny
Sparkes, Lauren Barry, Seana O Carroll, Fiona Faherty, Ciara Nolan,
Amy Barry, Emer Curtin.

| Kilcoole | 24 May, 2008 |
Bray Emmets: 7-0, Kilcoole:
0-0
Bray Emmets recorded a very well deserved win against a
very spirited Kilcoole team in the U12 Camogie League. Bray started
well and got on top in midfield through great work from Shauna
Douglas, Shauna O'Carroll and Caoimhe Lohan. Any Kilcoole attacks
were quickly snuffedout by excellent displays in defence from
Sara Hayd and Isobel Horner and Aoife Connaughton who is making
quiet a name for herself in goal!Excellent play by the
forwards and two goals apiece from Ciara Nolan and Lauren Sweeney
(one was an absolute fantastic finish!) had Bray four goals up at
half time.
Because of Bray's strength in depth wholesale changes were
madefor the second halfand it was a match to remember
for the Barry family withsisters Lauren and Amy scoring two
good goals. Continued excellent work in midfield from Aifric Murphy
who also scored a fine goal, Fiona Faherty and Jenny Sparks when
she came out of goalensured a steady supply of ball into the
forward line. Kilcoole gave thier all in the second half but could
not find anyway past the excellent backline of Emma Groves and
Sophie Mooney.

| Glenealy | 17 May, 2008 |
Bray Emmets: 1-00 Glenealy:
4-0
In a hotly contested match, Bray Emmets gave second best
to Glenealy in the U12 Camogie League. Glenealy started well and
despite excellent defending by Sarah Hayd, Emma Groves and Amy
Barry and Caoimhe Lohan and very good goal keeping from Aoife
Connaughton, Glenealy were ahead by two goals.
With some positional changes at half time Bray
started the second half well with a good goal from Lauren Barry
after great work byCiara Nolan. Bray continued to press
through Maeve Ni Mhidigh and FionaFaherty in the forwards,
withShauna Douglas,Lauren Sweeneyand Afric Murphy
dominating mid fieldand were unfortunate not to fashion
another score.
Glenealy came into the match late on and scored two further goals
notwithstanding excellent work by Sophie Mooney and Shauna Carroll,
who played everywhere except in goal! This was a huge
effort by the team which is progressing game on game and
theevidence of this was seen inthe number of girls who
were prepared to lift the ball and try and strike it out of their
hands.
Thanks to all the parents who provided lifts and Hugh Connaughton
for his assistance in coaching the team on the night.

| Kilcoole | 12 May, 2008 |
This is one match where the score line can be misleading
as in a very evenly contested match Kilcoole ran out winners after
scoring 4 late goals. Bray Emmets started very well and were in
front through a great solo run and hand passed goal from Shauna
Douglas and Bray quickly doubled the lead with a goal from Lauren
Sweeney. The Bray Emmets forward line of Maeve Ni Mihidigh, Ciara
Nolan and Jenny Sparks were putting the Kilcoole backline under
pressure all the way through and it is a great credit to Kilcoole
that they were level at half-time.
Excellent work by Shauna Douglas, Afric Murphy and Lauren
Sweeney in midfield plus excellent work from Sophie Mooney and Sara
Hayd in the backline and brilliant goalkeeping by Aoife Connaughton
ensured it was very even all the way through the second half but
with tiredness setting in and resilience by their opponents
resulted in a deserved but hard fought win for Kilcoole.
Final score line: Kilcoole 6:00 Bray Emmets
2:00
This group of players has great potential and all girls are
welcome to training on Monday nights at 7.00 which is already well
attended, all Wicklow league matches are played on a Friday night
and we urge girls who are training to make themselves available for
the matches. We were short of a full team on Friday night and
greatly appreciated the Kilcoole management's agreement to play
nine.

U12 lose out to a strong
Avondale team
Bray Emmets played their first U12 match of the season in
Bray on Friday last,
4th April,
against a strong Avondale team. The experienced Captain Sophie
Mooney led her team out onto the field, with some of the Bray
players playing their first ever Camogie match. Despite the fact
that Bray lost there was evidence of great things to come and all
the girls showed great potential for the future. They will have
lots more matches to play this year and will benefit from each one.
Best of luck this Friday against Ballinacor!!
Many thanks to all the parents who helped and came to support the
team.

Douglas, Afric Murphy, Seana Douglas, Lauren Sweeney, Samantha
Kelly, Nicky Kelly, Seana O'Carroll , Isobel Horner, Fodla
