On Saturday Bray Under 9s played a football match against
Liffey Gaels away in Inchicore in very wet weather and soft
conditions underfoot. We were a bit short of players due to illness
and holidays but Matthew Deschutter and Danielle Kennedy answered
the call and lined out for Bray. Due to the format of the matches
players rotate places so a number of players will be mentioned as
playing in the same positions.
Rory Cotter was very brave in goals for Bray at the start of the
match. Bray defended very well with Eoghan Potts, Daniel Jakob and
Rory Cotter all earned skill points for putting in good blocks.
Fiachra Murphy did well and Matthew Descutter got involved in the
game from the start. Despite the slippy ball Ben Fay Foley made a
number of clean catches which gave him that extra second to get his
kick away. Loughlin Dougan played very well and is getting better
with each game. Noah Cummins was as solid as a rock in midfield and
scored two goals for Bray.
Bray's performance was much better in the second half and scored
freely. Danielle Kennedy impressed in midfield and made good use of
the ball. In defense Anton Revas Renado tackled very well for Bray
and Aaron Kennedy did not let the ball past him. Paul Walsh had a
good game and was very lively in front of goal. Shane Slattery
played really well at midfield and scored a goal and a point for
Bray. Paddy Redmond is playing very well at the moment and
scored a goal from a penalty for Bray. Matthew Booth did very well
in goal in the second half and his long and accurate kick outs
helped to set up attacks for Bray. Cormac Kelly had an outstanding
game in midfield and was top scorer contributing 2 goals and 4
points. This was Bray's best performance of the year and great
credit is due to all the players for their effort in wintery
conditions.
