| Minor Hurling Championship 2014. | 2 July, 2014 |
Emmet Bhré 1.15 Carnew Emmets 1.08 Our Minor Hurling Team started their 2014 Championship Campaign with a narrow win over Carnew Emmets on Wednesday 2nd July in Arklow. The Arklow Pitch was in great condition and it was a fine evening for hurling. Canew made a very impressive start and led after 20 minutes by 1.05 to 3 points. A few positional switches by Bray had the desired effect and for the last ten minutes of the half the Bray lads really upped their game. The half time score was Bray 5pts Carnew 1.05. The Bray lads continued their improved performance during the entire second half, with some fine points being scored by Bill Moorehouse, Pauric Doyle and Eoin Mc Mahon. A goal by Eoin Mc Mahon sealed the victory. This was a good start to the championship for Bray but the management team will be looking for a much improved performance in the next game. The next game in this championship is in Old Connaught on Thursday 24th July at 7.30 pm V Arklow Rocks. Scorers: P. Doyle 6pts, E. Mc Cormack 1.03, W. Moorehouse 3pts, S. Lohan, C. Rowe, W. | Match Report: Minor Hurling Championship Final Replay | 24 November, 2013 |
After the excitement of last week, another large crowd travelled from Bray to watch our Minor Hurlers play Carnew Emmets in the County Final Replay on Sunday, 17th November in Arklow. This was the third year in a row that the Minor Hurling Final had gone to a replay but it’s safe to say that none of those games matched the drama of this encounter!
Padraig Doyle opened Bray’s account with a point from an early free and the good start continued when Cathal MacAodh managed to find the net. However, the response from Carnew was strong and after drawing themselves level, they went two points ahead. As the half-time break approached, Padraig Doyle scored a massive point from the near the sideline and this left the minimum between the sides as they headed to the dressing-room: Carnew Emmets 1-4 Bray Emmets 1-3. Bray worked hard in second half with Marc Lennon and Ben MacCormaic chipping in with early scores but as the game entered the closing stages, the men in green and navy were chasing the game. Bray needed a goal and somehow managed just that as corner forward Cathal MacAodh registered his second goal of the afternoon to draw the teams level: Carnew Emmets 1-10 Bray Emmets 2-7. The seconds ticked away before the referee blew the whistle for the end of full time and the crowd drew a breath as we headed for extra time.
There was no issue with tiredness as Bray came out all guns blazing and delivered some brilliant hurling in the first ten minutes. Ben MacCormaic helped himself to two fantastic points from frees and at the break in extra time Bray had built up a four point lead: Carnew Emmets 1-11 Bray Emmets 2-12. Amazingly, Carnew came back again and began to close the gap. After Shane Lohan had scored a superb point, Bray entered the final moments leading by two, that most dangerous of leads. Carnew duly gained possession and goaled and, as in the Football Final, it looked like more heartbreak for our Minors. But to their credit, Bray never gave up and from a high dropping ball sent into the Carnew goalmouth, Captain Marc Lennon made a connection and deflected the ball into the net. An unbelievable response scored in the most dramatic of fashions. Bray were now one point up with only seconds left. Eventually, the final whistle blew, bringing to an end a hugely thrilling encounter. The final score at the end of extra time was Bray Emmets 3-13 Carnew Emmets 2-14.
Club President Jackie Napier was asked by the County Chairman to present the Tom Cooney Cup to team captain Marc Lennon while Peter Conroy received the Man of the Match award. Congratulatons to all players, their families and team management on one of the Bray’s most memorable victories in recent times.

| Match Report: Minor Hurling Championship Final | 17 November, 2013 |
There is one thing that this current crop of Minors could never be excused of and that is that they play in dull and boring finals! After the drama of the football decider and replay a few weeks ago, many of the same players were again involved in another thrilling encounter when they faced Carnew Emmets in the County Hurling Final on Sunday, 17th November.
Given the time of year, the game was played in good conditions in Arklow and during a scrappy opening, Carnew were first to register, opening their account with a pointed free. After some great work by Padraig Doyle, Ben Mac Cormaic popped over Bray’s first point and was soon followed on to the list of scorers by Bill Moorehouse who fired over after Carnew had raised a second white flag. Carnew added another point to their tally before Moorehouse ran on to a long ball and rifled to the net to give Bray the lead for the first time. Growing in confidence, Bray began to exert some real pressure on the Carnew defence with Ben Mac Cormaic to the fore. His three frees were all expertly taken but to their credit, Carnew kept in touch with some points of their own. By the time Padraig Doyle ended the half with a brilliant catch and score, there were three points between the sides; Bray Emmets 1-6 Carnew Emmets 0-6.
Carnew raced out of the blocks in the second half and claimed four of the first five scores, Bray’s only point coming from the ever accurate Ben Mac Cormaic. The sides were now level 1-7 to 0-10 but in truth, Bray were really struggling and looked to be in serious trouble. And had it not been for a timely interception from Matt Thompson, who flicked the ball away from a waiting Carnew attacker, surely the South Wicklow men would have capped this period of dominance with a goal. They did however score a point and with ten minutes left, looked the more likely winners. However, Bray displayed real character and inspired by Daire Henderson, they dragged themselves back into contention. Padraig Doyle, who troubled the Carnew defence all day, won a very difficult ball and somehow managed to work it over the bar for a Bray equaliser. Both sides missed great opportunities to score but as the game entered its final moments, Bray were beginning to dominate and laid siege to the Carnew goal. And when Captain Marc Lennon brilliantly turned his man and raced through to split the posts, it looked like the cup was on its way to Bray. Normal time was up and Bray defended resolutely with a number of brilliant blocks and tackles. However, right at the death, Carnew sent over a long distance free to level the game and before the crowd had time to draw breath, the referee blew the final whistle. The final score was Bray Emmets 1-9 Carnew Emmets 0-12.
Best for Bray were the defensive trio of Donnchadh O Midheadh, Ryan Tynan and Peter Conroy, Daire Henderson was superb in the middle of the park while up front, Padraig Doyle and, Ben Mac Cormaic were the standout performers. The replay has been fixed for 11.30 a.m. next Sunday, 17th November in Arklow and hopefully, we will have another large crowd in attendance to support the boys.
Emmet Bhré: Dylan Terry, Donnchadh O Midheadh, Ryan Tynan, Shane Anders, Sean Maloney, Peter Conroy, Matt Thompson, Eoin Mac Cormaic, Daire Henderson, Shane Lohan, Padraig Doyle, Ben Mac Cormaic, Cathal Mac Aodh, Marc Lennon, Bill Moorehouse. | Match Report: Minor Hurling | 10 November, 2013 |
After negotiating the Group phase of the competition with relative ease, the Bray Emmets Minor Hurlers resumed their championship campaign with a comfortable semi-final victory over Glenealy on Sunday, 10th November in Aughrim. The Reds opened the scoring with a free in front of the posts but Bray’s response was immediate with both Ben Mac Cormaic and Cathal Mac Aodh firing over excellent points. After these scores, Emmets settled into the game and stretched their lead with a goal with one of the best moves of the match. From a puck out, Daire Henderson won possession in the middle and sent in a low ball to Matt Thompson who fed the oncoming Cathal Mac Aodh who rifled it to the net. Bray were now beginning to dominate and pushed on with points from Lennon, Lohan and Ben Mac Cormaic. Another goal, this time Marc Lennon stealing in at the back post to finish, meant that at that the half-time break, Emmets were leading by 2-9 to 0-4.
In a display of focus and determination, Bray were out on the pitch early to resume the second half and started in a similar fashion with points from the Mac Cormaic brothers, Ben and Eoin. Captain Marc Lennon, now operating at full-forward, effectively ended the game as a contest when he raised another green flag, his second of the day, with another trademark finish. At this point, Emmets introduced a number of substitutes who all contributed to a fine win. Final Score: Bray Emmets 3-15 Glenealy 0-8.
Although the conditions meant it was a day for forwards, credit must go to the Bray defence which stood firm whenever called upon. The County Final against Carnew Emmets is fixed for Sunday, 17th November and we hope that once again, the players and management will be well supported as we look to retain our Minor Championship title.
Emmet Bhré: Dylan Terry, Donnchadh O Midheadh, Ryan Tynan, Shane Anders, Sean Maloney, Peter Conroy, Ishmael Mnensa, Eoin Mac Cormaic (0-3), Daire Henderson, Marc Lennon (2-1), Matt Thompson, Ben Mac Cormaic (0-8), Cathal Mac Aodh (1-1), Pauric Doyle, Shane Lohan (0-2)

| Minor Hurlers ease past near neighbours | 4 September, 2013 |
The Bray Emmets Minor Hurlers took on near neighbours Eire Óg Greystones at Páirc Emmet Bhré on Wednesday, 4th September in a match in which victory for the home side would secure a place in the County Championship Semi-Final. As in previous games, Emmets got off to a great start when Cathal McAodh finished a well worked move with a powerful shot to the corner of the net. Playing against a stiff breeze, Eire Óg showed that they were keen to make a contest of the game by responding with three points of their own. However, Bray weathered the storm with Shane Lohan raising the white flag with a fine long range effort and a second goal for Cathal McAodh. Another Greystones score was followed by points from Dara Henderson, Marc Lennon, Shane Lohan and Matt Thompson. Captain Marc Lennon was then rewarded for his explosive and direct running when he added two goals to the Bray tally which left the home side leading 4-11 to 0-5 at the break.
Seanie Maloney started off the second half by running at the Eire Óg defence and scoring a bullet point. A brace of Greystones’ points was followed by another Marc Lennon goal, his third of the night. By this stage, a number of substitutes had been introduced including Daniel Kennedy who seized the opportunity to score his first point at Minor level with a quick free. Before the game ended, there was time for Cathal McAodh to score another goal so he too finished with a hat-trick! Bray now qualify for the County Championship Semi-Final with a game in hand so well done to the management and players on a superb achievement.
Final score: Bray Emmets 6-15 Eire Óg Greystones 0-9.
Bray Emmets: Dylan Terry, Donnacha O Midheach, Ryan Tynan, Shane Anders, Shane Lohan, Ishmael Mnensa, Peter Conroy, Eoin McCormack,Sean Maloney, Cathal McAodh, Dara Henderson, Matt Thompson, Daniel Kennedy, Mark Lennon, Conor Doherty. Subs: Patrick Cunningham, Conor McNally, Ben McCormack, Mick Burton.

| Big score sees Minor hurlers past St. Pats | 28 August, 2013 |
The Minor Hurlers entertained St. Patricks Wicklow in Páirc Emmet Bhré on Wednesday, 28th August. Bray got off to an explosive start to match with an early goal from Captain Mark Lennon. The tone and pace of the match could not be matched by Pats as Bray reeled of points from Ben McCormack, Pauric Doyle, Conor Doherty and Dara Henderson. Pauric Doyle at full forward was causing all sorts of problems for the St. Patricks full back line and finished the half with a tally of 2-3. Half backs Seanie Maloney, Ishy and Shane Lohan rarely let the ball past in first half and whatever went back was cleared up by Dunnie, Peter Conroy and Shane Anders in the full back line. Bray Emmets led 3-8 to 1-2 at half-time making the team talk quite easy. Four changes were made early in second half with Dara Henderson & Dunnie making way for Bill Moorehouse and Patrick Cunningham. Just after scoring a fine goal, Conor Doherty made way for Daniel Kennedy and Matt Thompson for Liam Benville. Mark Lennon scored another goal with Pauric Doyle adding another two goals. Three points from Bill Moorehouse and one each from Seanie Maloney and Eoin McCormack finished a comfortable win for Bray. Scorers: Pauric Doyle (4-5); Mark Lennon (2-2); Conor Doherty (1-1); Dara Henderson (0-3); Bill Moorehouse (0-3); Ben McCormack (0-1); Seanie Maloney (0-1); Eoin McCormack (0-1).

| Minor Hurlers see off Glenealy | 7 August, 2013 |
The Minor Hurlers had a superb win when they travelled to Glenealy on Wednesday evening, 7th August. This, of course, was a repeat of last years County Final when Emmets emerged victorious but with Glenealy leading by 2-5 to 0-7 at half-time, it looked like the result would be different this time around. However, the Bray lads turned it around in the second half and with the sides level with one minute to go, Daire Henderson caught a puck out and split the posts for the winning point. Final Score: Glenealy 2-10 Bray Emmets 2-11Scorers: S.Lohan (0-2); E.McCormack (0-3); P.Doyle (0-2); D.Henderson (0-2); M.Thompson (0-1); M.Lennon (2-1).... |

Bray Emmets 2-9 Glenealy 2-8
The Minor Hurling County Championship Final Replay between Bray
Emmets and Glenealy took place at 11.30 a.m. last Sunday,
2nd December in Pearse Park,
ArklowwithBray emerging as champions after Eoin
McCormack struck the winning point from play on the stroke of full
time. Bray had started the match on fire and had two early points
from Cathal O'Duilleachain and Mark Lennon.Gleneaiy
responed by scoring a goal when Gavin Weir blocked down Ryan Tynans
clearance and finished well to the net. However, Bray went back on
the attack and a point from a close in free from Cian O'Byrne
brought the sides level. Bray attacked again and Jim Doyle fired
home a great goal after the Glenealy keeper had saved initially.
Bray then added another point from an O'Byrne free and a point from
play by Eoin McCormack. Coming up to half time Bray led 2-5 to 1-5
when a free from the 40 by O'Byrne dropped short and despite the
Glenealy defenders valiant efforts the ball hit the net. Shortly
afterwards, Diarmuid Masterson delivered a long range 65 over the
bar to leave Bray four points to the good 2-6 to 1-5 at half
time.
The second half opened well for Bray who scored a long range
free from Masterson and things were looking good. However Glenealy
were tipping away at the frees and scored a goal when Danny
Staunton doubled on a ball which went into the net off Tynans hand
as he tried to save it. It was now game on; Bray 2-7, Glenealy 2-6.
Gavin Weir pointed a free to level the game and though Bray
responded with another O'Byrne free , Glenealy came back to level
it once again. Bray still dominated and had a few chances from
frees mostly long range but it fell to McCormack to send the winner
over his shoulder for victory.
On the day, Bray Emmets were the better team, creating chances
and registering more scores from play. The champions were best
served by Daire Lohan, Cathal O'Duilleachain, Diarmuid Masterson,
Cian O'Byrne, Sean Maloney and Eoin McCormack. The four sets of
brothers, Doyles, Maloneys, Lohans and McCormacks all finished the
game on the field. At centre forward, our youngest player Padraig
Doyle -15 years old this month - kept the ball moving well all
day.
Every single member of the panel deserves praise but a special
mention goes to Peter Conroy who had a great game in the drawn
final but got a shoulder injury playing for the Presentation
College football team during the week and missed the replay. Thanks
also to all the supporters who travelled from Bray.
The Tom Cooney Cup was presented by Tom's son to the proud Bray
Captain Luke Maloney. The man of the match award went to Diarmuid
Masterson who struck the ball really well all day, scoring long
range points in very poor conditions. Luke Maloney was also named
Minor Hurler of the Year in Wicklow.

| Minor Hurlers have to do it all again | 25 November, 2012 |
Bray 1 -7, Glenealy 1 -7
The Minor Hurling County A Championship Final between Bray
Emmets and Glenealy was played in Pearse Park, Arklow on Sunday,
25th November in atrocious conditions with heavy rain and biting
cold making a pitch, which was already water logged in the goal
mouths, almost impossible to play on. Both teams gave their best
and Glenealy went into an early lead thanks to the free taking of
Gavin Weir. Bray got back into the game with a fine point from Eoin
Mc Cormack, two frees from Cian O'Byrne and a scrambled goal
finished in the mud by a few players. Padraig Doyle scored a great
point after a cross field pass from Daire Lohan. Bray lead at half
time 1-4 to 0-4.
The weather was deteriorating all the time and in the second
half there was stalemate with points being exchanged. Going in to
the last ten minutes Bray led 1-6 to 0-6 after a fine run and score
by Cathal O'Duilleachain. However, a scrambled goal, again in the
same muddy goalmouth, led to Glenealy drawing level. Bray responded
with a fine point from Diarmuid Masterson to be ahead going into
injury time.
Ryan Tynan had a great day between the posts with some fine
saves and our backs did really well in the testing conditions. We
struggled up front but were on top most of the game and deserved to
win but the minor championship being played at this time of year is
a lottery, with frees being decisive and the referee has a huge
influence on the outcome.
The official added time to be played was two minutes but
instead, the referee played six and a half minutes and blew up as
Glenealy scored the levelling point from a free, leaving us the
same as last year. It is very late in the year and there are only
four teams in this championship and yet we are still playing going
into December. The Minor B Final, fixed as a curtain-raiser to our
match, was not played as Carnew conceded to Greystones. Last week
Greystones conceded a walkover to Glenealy so overall, it does not
make a good picture for Minor Hurling in the county.
Bray Emmets: Ryan Tynan, Sean Maloney, Daire Henderson, Peter
Conroy, Ishmael Mnesa, Luke Maloney, Enda O Maolmhuidh , Cathal
O'Duileachain (0-1), Ben Mc Cormack, Daire Lohan, Padraigh Doyle
(0-1), Cian O'Byrne(0-3), Diarmuid Masterson (0-1), Jim Doyle, Eoin
Mc Cormack (0-1), Donnacha O'Midheach, Shane Lohan, Shane Anders,

| Minor Hurling League V Eire Óg | 11 July, 2012 |
The Minor Hurling League for
2012 kicked off on Wed 11th July in Old Conna with Greystones as
our visitors. Bray had a good turn out with 4 sets of brothers, the
Doyles, Maloneys, Mc Cormack's and Lohans, great names for the
future. Greystones could only field 14 so we played 14 a side and
interchanged all the players. The final outcome was victory to
Greystones by 2-11 to 1-8.
Bray started well with points
from Cian O'Byrne and a goal from Sean Maloney after some good work
by Cathal O'Duallachain but Greystones got on top in vital areas
and led at half time by 5 points, after soring 2 goals coming
up to the break. As Bray had played against the breeze we felt that
we would give them a good game in the scond half however Greystones
continued to dominate and had outstanding players in Anto Byrne,
Kevin Byrne`, James Cranley, Ryan Brandon and Eoin Keddyy .
Bray had 2 goal chances which they failed to convert and were
reduced to scoring points. At the back Ishmael and Enda were
outstanding and did everything right, top scorer for Bray was
Cian O'Byrne with7 points. As this was David Byrnes first
outing with the team, I would like to welcome him and thank his
family for the support. Training continues on Sun mornings at 10
for U16 and Minors and the minors also train with the senior panel
on Mon and Friday.,
Note we had 3 players on the
Wicklow minor Hurling team on Sat which played Fingal and
ended in a draw , Cian OByrne, Ben Mc Cormack and Enda O'

scorer with 3 points

5thtime in six years. Half time score gave Bray an
eight-point lead with 13 points to 1:2 for Glenealy. At the start
of the second half Glenealy appeared to dominate initially but that
was short lived. The final score was Bray Emmets 3:18 Glenealy 1:7.

| Wonderful Bray Minors win County Final with scoreline ; Bray Emmets 3-9, Carnew Emmets 2-8. | 27 July, 2008 |
Bray Emmets kept the golden era of Minor Hurling within the club
going in Arklow on Sunday when Lorcan Pratt, the proud
captain of Bray Emmets, lifted the Tom Cooney memorial cup for the
fourth time in five years.
Bray simply blew Carnew away in the first half. This Bray
team was the first hurling team to qualify for the All Ireland
Feile in 2004as Wicklow sent two teams and we were the second
team. Carnew were the feile winners, won the U12, U14 and U16 with
our lads as bridesmaids so this was a sweet victory. For some of
the 18 year olds this was their day and they knew it, right from
the start Paul Cunningham won the first 2 balls and we were on our
way, the other real minors such as Gearoid O'Murchu, David Houghton
and Lorcan Pratt were in the thick of things and really
getting stuck in and winning every battle. We opened
with 2 points from Tom Cash and O'Murchu before Carnew got going
with a point. We were awarded a 65 which Dara Maloney struck well
and appeared to be going over for a point, however the ball dipped
and the Carnew keeper failed to hold the sliothar and we were 4
points up. We went on to lead at half time by 2-4 to 0-2. Tom Cash
crashing in a great goal before the break. Playing Hugh Douglas at
centre back worked a treat as he stopped everything going down the
middle and he made some fine full length interceptions and block
downs. Ronan Cunningham held the Carnew danger man, nd he
quietly and efficiently got everything out of danger. Killian
Molloy in the other corner kept his man quiet also. Our half
forward line of Eoin Brazil, Aaron Shortt and Tommy Hamil kept the
vaunted Carnew half backline, some of whom are playing senior,
completely out of the game.
Carnew came out fighting in the second half and got a goal to
leave 6 points in the game, however, Tommy Hamill then scooped the
ball to the Carnew net after his initial effort had been saved and
we were again well ahead. Carnew rallied in the 4th quarter and
scored another goal but Mikey Lee made 2 great saves at this point
and Carnew were struggling. Meanwhile Gearoid O'Murchu was hitting
points from all angles and some superb long range frees to keep
Bray ahead.
Bray had stars all over the field and the right tactics for the
day with John Henderson playing deep from his corner forward spot
leaving lots of room for Cash (1-2) and O'Murchu (0-7) inside. John
was great under the ball and kept Carnew pinned in their own half.
Some of the balls played in by himself, Paul Cunningham and David
Houghton were a joy to watch with the inside players coming on to
top class possession. Mikey Lee's puck outs and general play was
outstanding as was Gearoid O'Murchu who shaded man of the match
from Paul Cunningham and John Henderson.

Minor Hurling Championship: Bray 1-13, Glenealy
3-1.
Bray Emmets were victorious in Rathnew on Sunday morning in the
Minor Championship semi final defeating Glenealy fairly easily by 6
points. Glenealy were never in the game and Bray led at half time
by 1-7 to 0-1. Bray had played with the aid of the breeze and
nothing was getting through to our fullback line and goalkeeper.
David Houghton, Aaron Murphy and Paul Cunningham were cleaning up
around the centre and Tom Cash was doing the scoring up front.
In the second half we relaxed a little and Glenealy came into
the game and scored 2 goals from 20 metre frees. They got their
third goal right on full time and this merely took the bad look off
the scoreboard. There were some fine individual displays
particularly Paul Cunningham and David Houghton. Of the younger
players Mikey Lee, Dara Maloney and Harry Stephenson did well.
Overall Bray were too skillfull for Glenealy and could have won by
a lot more.
Bray: Mikey Lee, Ronan Cunningham, Lorcan Pratt, Killian Molloy,

| Eire Og | 16 March, 2008 |
Minor hurlers played Eire Óg's in Greystones on Sunday morning
last. In the start of their second round of the league the Bray
team opened the scoring with a point from a free by Gearoid
O'Murchú. This was followed fairly smartly by a point and a goal
from Eire Óg.
The first round match has finished in a draw so no doubt
confidence was growing with the home team. However that was short
lived as at half time the score was 2-7 for Bray to 1-2 for Eire Óg
with scoring from Gearoid, Tom Cash and Matthew Keating. The
St Brendan's Oklahoma cowboys, Owen Brazil, Luke O'Reilly and Harry
Stephenson along with backstage director Peter O'Reilly having
returned from their Transition Year trip to Paris the night before
all played "tres bienne" having obviously picked up some artistic
touches from their visit to the Louvre!
The second half, while a little more physical, saw more of the
same from Bray with Aaran Murphy also adding to the score board.
The Bray backs never let the Greystones forwards through with the
ball. Cillian O'Maolmhuaidh made a brilliant save towards the end

Bray 4-5, Greystones
5-2
Bray opened their competitive year with the first
match in the Minor Hurling Championship even though it is still mid
February. The game reflected this, with two very young sides,
mostly 15/16 year olds. Bray had only 15 players of which only 5
were 18 which is the proper age for this
competition.
Bray were slightly better early on but
did not score and Greystones scored 2 goals from Phelim Byrne with
their first two attacks. At this stage Bray moved Lorcan Pratt to
full back and he curtailed the Greystones danger man. Bray settled
and Gearoid O'Murchu got 2 goals back for Bray along with
scoring 3 points and Bray led at half time by 2-4 to 3-0. For a
period in both halves every attack at either goal resulted in green
flags.
The standard did not improve
in the second half with missed frees and poor striking. Best for
Bray were Gearoid O'Murchu, David Houghton, Lorcan Pratt while some
of the younger players showed some nice touches such as Daire
Maloney, Harry Stephenson, Killian Molloy and John Henderson.
Bray's goals in the second half came from Dominic Broughan after a
pass from John Henderson and Gearoid O'Murchu when his long free
deceived the keeper and wound up in the
net.
Scorers for Bray
were Gearoid O'Murchu 3-4, Domo Broughin 1-0 and John Henderson
0-1. The final score reflects the game lots of goals with 2 very
inexperienced and young Hurling
teams.
