U16 hurlers

26 March, 2016

Coolderry (Offaly)  3-12, Emmet Bhré  1-9.   The U16 hurlers were in Offaly for the quarter final stage of this competitive Leinster Hurling league, on Sat 26th March. We were pitted against a young side who really knew how to ply the art form of Setanta. Fast, first-time strokes coupled with high-intensity, team workrate were the order of the day. Luckily for Bray Emmets, James Anders' radar was keenly honed, providing the whetstone for further scores from Rory Lambe and Cian Lohan. Mick O'Gara, his selfless, energetic play and clever reading of the breaks proved the catalyst for the successes of our first-half. The break left the sides on level pegging.                    With the driving wind and pitch incline, the second-half was always going to be a significant assault. Unfortunately, the gap widened despite heroic efforts from Tony Jackson, Sam Kearney and David Maloney. Points from Darragh Rochford and Anders followed, but the home team were eventually dominant with some very fine individual scores. Bhí Séamus an-sásta leis an gcomórtas agus iarracht chroíúil a fhoirne.   Foireann : Macdara Ó Midheach (Captaen), Sam Kearney, Lochlann Dougan, Donnchadh Griffin-Carroll, Darragh Rochford (0-1), Sid Hunt, Ronan McMahon, Ben Kearney, James Anders (0-6), Tony Jackson, David Maloney, Joe Phelan, Rory Lambe (1-1), Mick O’Gara, Cian Lohan (0-1), Andrew O’Brien, Andrew Conway, David Kennedy, Seán McDonagh. U16 Hurlers

20 March, 2016

Bray Emmets 8-10 Monageer-Boolavogue 1-5 The U16 Hurlers advanced to the quarter finals of the Leinster League Div 1 with a comfortable win v their Wexford opponents. Bray Emmets dominated possession from the very start however a tendency to try to go for goals meant a score line of 4-3 to 1-4 was closer than it should have been at half time. The lads were even more dominant in the 2nd half and settled down to score point and goals from all areas of the pitch. This was a very good team performance with all players contributing to an emphatic victory. Tougher challenges lie ahead in the quarter finals where the opposition will either be from Offaly or Westmeath. Team: MacDara Ó Midheach, Seanie McDonagh, Donnchadh Griffin-Caroll, Tony Jackson, Ben Kearney, Sid Hunt, Darragh Rochford, Ciaran McKay(0-1), Joe Phelan, James Anders (1-0), Ronan McMahon (1-1),  Andy Conway (0-3), Rory Lambe (1-2), Sam Kearney (1-1), Cian Lohan (1-0), David Maloney (2-2), Mick O’Gara(1-0), Michael Timmins, David Nesbitt....

U16 B Championship Hurling Final

24 October, 2015

The U16 hurlers met Arklow Rocks in the ‘B’ championship final on Sat 24 October. The physically strong Arklow side were quickest out of the blocks, scoring three early goals – but by half-time Bray had pegged back their lead with Noah Cummins finding the net twice. The second-half produced a higher tempo of hurling from both teams. Bray gave it their all, Ciarán McKay, Ben Kearney, Joe Phelan and Andrew Conway deserving of particular praise. In the final analysis, Arklow won by 4 points. Comhghairdeas leo agus le hiarrachtaí cróga Emmet Bhré. Foireann : Stephen Flynn, Shane Slattery, Donnchadh Morgan, Cian Lohan, Macdara Ó Midheach, Donnchadh Griffin-Carroll, Ciarán McKay (Captaen), Sid Hunt, Ronan McMahon, Ben Kearney, James Anders, Tony Jackson, Joe Phelan, Noah Cummins, Rory Lambe, Andrew O’Brien, Andrew Conway, David Kennedy, Daniel Jakob. Under 16 Hurling

21 April, 2014

Bray played their first game last Monday away v Glenealy. It was their first time together as a group and there were very encouraging signs of the potential of the group. Glenealy, having the wind and playing down the slope on the pitch, made the better start getting a goal and a couple of points without reply. Bray's touch wasn't great at first but improved as the game went on. Bray's defence got to grips with the Glenealy attack after about 20 minutes and more than matched them from then until the final whistle only conceding 2 points in the second half. Lochlann was very dependable in goals. Kevin Nolan, Fiachra, Joe and Owen worked hard in defence; Kevin Spaine in particular did very well in the half back line. William put in a man of the match performance in the full back line and never once did his opponent win a ball against him and drove the ball out of defence on numerous occasions. Evan and Philip worked hard around the middle of the field as did Donncha, Stephen, David and Cian. Daniel, Donnchadh, Shane and Andrew provoked panic in the Glenealy defence when they got the ball. Andrew was top scorer for Bray with 1-3 to his credit. Glenealy won the game but were made to work for it particularly in the second half of the match.Team: Lochlann Dougan, Donncha Morgan, William Hennessy, Kevin Nolan, Joe Phelan, Owen Duffy (0-1), Kevin Spaine, Evan Sweeney, Philip Redmond (0-1), David Munro, Cian Rowe, Andrew Conway (1-3), Daniel Jakob, Stephen Finn, Shane Slattery, Fiachra Murphy, Donnchadh Griffin....

Eire Og

31 August, 2009

Eire Og 1.07 - Bray Emmets 3.10. Our under 16 hurlers collected another two points in the group section of the 'A' Championship when they had a victory away to Eire Og, Greystones on Monday 31stAugust. The Eire Og pitch was in great condition considering the heavy rain that fell all day. Bray started well with a goal and points from Mikey Lee but Eire Og came more into the game and scored a goal. A second goal for Bray from Mikey Lee left the half time score 2.05 to 1.04 in favour of Bray. In the second half Bray added a third goal through Hugh Douglas but Eire Og were always in the game and the contest was close all through. Our team played well at different times in the game but a big improvement is required if we are to progress to the final. Best for Bray were, Daire Lohan, Jim Doyle, Cathal O Dualleacahin, Enda Molloy, Hugh Douglas, Mikey Lee, Luke Maloney. Team: Daire Lohan, Tadgh Dornan , Jim Doyle, Piaris Mac Suibhne, Muiris O Floinn, Hugh Douglas,(1.01), Luke Maloney, Nicky Sweeney, Ryan Fagan,(1pt), Michael Lee,( 2.06), Cathal O Duailleachain, Enda Molloy, Cian O Byrne,(1pt) Dirmuid Masterson, Lee Brandon,(1pt) Ryan Tynan. ...
