North East League games

18 May, 2009

Our under 16 footballers finished off their North East League games with two wins last week, which meant that they finished top of the league, with 9pts from 5 games.  On Monday 11th May, they had a victory away to An Tochar after a battling performance from the home side.

The game was close at half time, but with the advantage of the wind, Bray pulled away in the second half.  Two second half goals by Mikey Lee, 6pts from Pierce Sweeney and 1.01 from Muiris O Floinn set the team up for victory.

On Wednesday 13th May we had a home game in Old Connaught against previously unbeaten Rathnew.  Rathnew had a good start in the game and led by 4pts to 1.  A goal by Mikey Lee settled our team and we played some nice football for the remainder of the game.  The return of Hugh Douglas from injury, and the introduction of Chris Lyons also helped the whole team to up their performance.  The scores were close at half time, 2.02 to 6pts in favour of Bray but again with the advantage of the wind, Bray pulled away with goals from David Sullivan and Hugh Douglas.

Special mention to our goalkeeper Tadgh Dornan and his backs who have played well throughout the league.

Scorers, David Sullivan 1.01, M. Lee 1.03, Hugh Douglas 1.01, Nicky Sweeny 1.01, Chris Lyons 3pts, Luke Maloney, Adam Conway 1pt.
