Pine Forest Gaels 4-3 Bray Emmets 1-2

A depleted U-14 side travelled to Glencullen to play PFG, refixed from the previous Saturday when heavy rain had prevented the game going ahead. Bray opened the scoring with a well struck goal by Rory in the first few minutes, and the game settled into a keen struggle with no further score for the next 20 minutes.

The Bray defence held the skilful, physical PFG side scoreless with stand out performances from Adam and Tadhg, fine displays from Aaron at full back , and Zack at wing back and Jamie and Daniel F at cornerback. At 25 minutes PFG scored 2 goals in quick succession. Cathal and Jack were strong and determined at midfield, aided by Sebastian who dropped back to help contain a very able PFG midfield pairing. Cathal and Sebastian worked especially hard and Cathal won some fine ball in the air.

However Bray struggled to feed ball into their forwards and scoring opportunities were rare despite the best efforts of Rory, and Ben who made his first starting appearance at centre forward. Andrew showed well and won some good ball and Rian and Daniel M worked well in the corners. Cathal added a point from a free, and PFG added one of their own to leave them ahead at halftime on a scoreline of 2-1 to 1-1.

The second half was very competitive but despite the best efforts of Fionn in goal, PFG added two further goals and 2 points to their tally. Emmets made a number of goal chances but were denied by some fine saves from the PFG keeper. Cathal added a further consolation score, but PFG finished worthy winners.
