Busy week for U14 hurlers

11 June, 2011

Last week was a busy for our under 14s.  On Thursday Conor Britton from the Co Wicklow VEC Sports Promotion Unit gave the panel a talk on healthy eating.  He discussed a range of issues from choosing food correctly from the food pyramid to match preparation.  He emphasised drinking water the day before a game and stressed the importance of being fully hydrated for all games and training. Eight glasses of water needs to be drank the day before a game, throughout the day not just in one go.  According to Conor going to a game or training without eating is like trying to drive a car without petrol so a full healthy breakfast needs to be had the morning of a game. A big thanks for Conor for coming up to the club. We hope all the players stick to his tips.  On Wednesday night Mick Murray, senior football coach gave us a training session, thanks to Mick. On Saturday the club hosted an u14 hurling blitz.  Newport from Tipp made the journey to Bray along with Carnew and Eire Og.

The blitz ran from 11am to 1.30pm with some great hurling from each of the teams.  Team: C. McNally,  D Kennedy, C O Doherty, P Michel, P Doyle,, D. Terry, L. Benville, M.
