Under 14 Hurling Championship V Michael Dwyers

11 October, 2008

Bray Emmets  4-9, Michael Dwyers 2-1

Emmets travelled to Blessington on Saturday last and came away with a good victory after a stuttering start. Michael Dwyers got an early goal when Bray were slow to clear their lines. Bray opened their account shortly afterwards with a point and were getting going when we conceded another goal. Bray clawed themselves back into the game with 2 goals from Jim Doyle and led at half time by 2-2 to 2-0.

In the second half Bray dominated and pulled themselves clear without ever hurling well. The long lay off led to some poor striking and scoring attempts. Jim Doyle continued to dominate at full forward and scored 2-3 in the second half to take his personal total to 4-4.

Luke Maloney played well as the extra man after Michael Dwyers were reduced to 14 just before half time.  The team had to compete well with a tough , strong and bigger Michael Dwyers team. We eventually came to grips mainly through Jim Doyle , Enda Molloy and Muiris O'Floinn in the second half.

Bray: Daragh Lohan, Cathal O'Dualachain, Dara Henderson, Ben Mc Cormack, Luke Maloney (0-2), Enda Molloy, Mark Lennon, Diarmuid Masterson, Muiris O'Floinn, Danny O'Toole, Jim Doyle (4-4), Andrew Bartley, Cian O'Byrne (0-2), Ryan Fagan, Josh Connolly, Ryan Tynan (0-1), Matthew Thompson, Stephen Kirwan, Graham Sutton.
