Hurling Feile

7 April, 2008

Bray Emmets retained the Hurling Feile with a powerful display in Ashford on Saturday. They travel to the All Ireland Feile in Laois Offaly in June to represent Wicklow in Division 2. This is the fourth year in a row to represent Wicklow at Feile and some lucky players are going to their third Feile in a row.

Bray played Carnew in the semi final. Carnew had won twice earlier in the day and this probably showed in their display where they made little impression on the dominant Bray team who were playing their first game. Carnew were runners up to Bray at U12 and were expected to qualify in second place however they were paired with Bray in the semi and this finished their bid and they went out on a scoreline of 5 -4 to 0-0. Bray used the 20 players and it was very hard to pick out the top performers. However Jim Doyle at full back, Diarmuid Masterson, Muiris O'Floinn, Pierse Sweeney, Luke Maloney , Cathal O'Duileachain and Cian O'Byrne led the way.

Bray played Glenealy in the final and won easily by 2-8 to 0-1. Glenealy also qualified for the All Ireland Feile. Again this was a one sided game but we can only play what is put in front of us.
