U13 Hurlers

30 April, 2015

Bray Emmets under thirteen hurlers played their fourth game in Dublin last Thursday against Lucan Sarfields. Trying to bounce back from their first defeat in the league Bray took time to settle with Lucan starting well but the half back line of Adam, Tadhg and ever excellent Zack held their own. The fullback line of Andrew, Aaron and Eoin cleared a lot of ball giving Ben in goal great protection. However Lucan's pressure paid off and half way through the first half Bray were behind by five points. Eventually Bray settled with Sam and the tireless Philip taking over in midfield getting good ball into the forward line. Scores were still hard to come by with the Lucan keeper making a number of key saves. Gavin continued to show for ball and brought Brian, Rory the two Daniels and Cathal into the game. A sudden rush of scores before half time gave Bray a big but flattering lead at the break.
Bray started the second half much better and the forwardline of Luan, Brian, Rory, Cathal Gavin and the two Daniels got on more ball but were still finding scores hard to come by. Sam and Philip continued to dominate midfield and eventually Bray made their pressure pay and managed to stretch their lead with Rory scoring an excellent goal despite shipping a number of hard tackles.
The backline of Adam, Tadhg, Michael, Eoin, Zack, Aaron and Andrew continued their excellent first half and thwarted many of the Lucan attacks. Ben with his big puck outs ensured that the pressure on the backline was kept to a minimum.
However as the game wore on Bray tired and Lucan finished strongly with a number of well worked scores but Bray held out to win.
This was a game that Bray struggled for long periods in both halves but were clinical in taking their scores when they needed to. Special mention must go to Zack who was outstanding at centre back, reading the game very well and clearing his lines excellently . Zack has been brilliant for the under thirteens all year playing in his best position in the half back line where he has been contributing to the success of the team this year. While not the team's best performance the team continue to work hard and won well despite not firing on all cylinders

Team: Ben, Aaron, Andrew, Adam, Tadhg, Michael, Eoin, Zack, Sam, Philip, Luan, Daniel,Rory, Cathal, Daniel, Brian and Gavin.
