Bray Emmets vs Cuala
Bray Emmets 3-3 Cuala 2-4
Bray Emmets under 12 hurlers travelled the very short distance to Shanganagh Park this past Saturday to play Cuala in their second last Dublin league match of the year. After winning against Round Towers Clondalkin earlier in the week, under lights, they were in good spirits as the game began.
During the first half the team played with their customary vigour and skill but found Cuala to be worthy opponents. This half found Bray on top in terms of pressure and chances created but Cuala's back line refused to buckle and aided by some super saves by their goalkeeper they held Bray level as the half time whistle blew.
The second half turned out to be a real test of the teams hurling ability and desire to dig out a win. It was characterised by skilful and committed hurling by both teams with each of the teams ahead at different stages. As the clock ticked down Bray found themselves one point behind. The team however managed to work an opportunity to get a shot off, after great work by the backs and midfield, which found the top corner of the goal. The team then denied any more scoring chances to their opponents and finished the game tired but victorious.
A final reflection on the game was provided by the Cuala coaches who were very complimentary of the teams' ability and particularly praised their first touch. Bray responded by spontaneously cheering Cuala off the pitch to end a match which could have gone either way.
