Under 12 Hurlers

8 March, 2014

Bray Emmets U12 Hurlers had their second game in their Dublin grading league in a windswept O'Tooles ground. Missing a number of players through injury and illness Bray travelled more in hope than expectation to one of the aristocrats of Dublin hurling. Playing with a gale in the first half Bray settled well with Cathal and Zack really impressing at midfield ensuring good quick ball was going into a forward line where Fionn impressed with his first touch and physical power. Brian, Riain and Daniel Munro had the O'Toole's defence at sixes and sevens with Philip on fire with his speed and skill.

The Bray Emmets defence had a quiet first half because of the elements but Aaron, Sebastain, Daniel Flavin and Tadhg were on top against their opponents ensuring Sam in goal has an armchair ride in the first half.Uncertain in how the second half would go playing into a strong wind, changes were kept to a minimium and indeed O'Tooles came more into the game with a well taken goal. Bray settled down and kept the ball low and ran with the ball ensuring they kept O'Tooles at bay. Key to this was storming performances in the back line by Sebastain and Aaron with Tadhg's and Daniel Flavin's tight marking ensured Cathal now in goal was not busy. Philip now back helping in the defence continued his dynamic all action game. Zack literally ran himself to a standstill and was ably assisted in midfield by Sam. Brian's skill levels came to the fore with some excellently taken scores with Fionn, Daniel Munro and Riain continued on from their strong first half's performance with Bray running out deserving winners.

This was a satisfactory performance particularly in the second half when Bray came under more pressure against the wind, the team are now playing with style and a strong work ethic allied by good support play and teamwork. Again it has to be remembered that this is a grading group and we will be playing much stronger teams in the future but so far the team have played well ahead of expectations and are a credit to the club and their families.
