Under 12 Hurling

22 February, 2014

In a windswept Pairc Emmet Bhre, the under 12 hurlers got their grading blitz off to a good start against a game Ballinteer St Johns.Playing with a gale Bray got off to a great start with Philip and Cathal dominating in midfield who ensured there was good first time ball going into the full forward line of Rory, Peter and Daniel Flavin, with the tireless half forward line of Brian, Fionn and Jack kept the scoreboard was ticking over. Bray did not have it all their own way however but the tight marking back line of Sebastain, Tadhg, Eoin, Aaron and Ben ensured that Sam in goal was not unduly worried. The introduction of Daniel Munro, Riain ensured that Bray were on top coming up to the half time break. A few positional changes a half time did not diminish the team now playing against the wind, playing the ball low into the forward line ensured that Fionn, Brian and Jack quickly got on the score board. Ballinteer came more into the game but excellent defending by Sebastain, Aaron, Daniel Flavin and Tadhg in particular kept a number of dangerous attacks at bay. The midfield of Philip and Sam made some strong runs which led to scores with Rory and Daniel Munro continuing their good work from the first half. Continued good work at the back from Riain and Ben as well as some very accurate puck outs from Cathal ensured that Peter and Oscar Harty (just back from a trip to Good Counsel) piled on further pressure on Ballinteer who scored a well worked goal at the death. This was a good performance on a very windy day, special credit must go to the players for playing the game at a high tempo and trying to use space. This is a grading league with teams of varying standards so it wouuld be foolish to get carried away with the result. However there was no denying the players effort and application on the day.
