Bray Emmets U-12 Hurlers

16 February, 2013

On Saturday, 16th February the Under-12 Hurlers had a pre-season friendly against Faughs at a dry but windy Old Conna.  The new season sees the amalgamation of the 2002 and 2001 Hurlers, so the match was played in three periods to ensure everyone had a decent run out and got used to new team-mates (as well as coaches learning new names!). At the end of the first third, the teams were evenly matched but by the start of the second third, the rustiness and cobwebs had all but disappeared and Bray really began to put some combinations together. Peter and Luke from the 2002's formed a solid back line with Michael and David from the 2001's and were so effective that Darragh in goal had little to do. Davy, Rory, Seán and Jamie were their usual hive of industry, ably assisted by Sebastian in breaking up Faugh's attacks and setting up Bray ones. Rian produced a lovely pick up and strike to add a further score to Bray's total.  Conor engineered a fine pick up, turn and shot from distance and with the keeper well beaten, the bar came to Faughs rescue, only for a quick reacting Bray forward to pounce and rifle it into the net. Up front Fionn, Aaron, Ciarán and Rory M kept the Faughs defence busy and the Bray scoreboard ticking over.  The players and coaches have every reason to look forward to the serious business of the Dublin Hurling Leagues. The final score was Bray Emmets 7-4 Faughs 1-3.
