U12 Hurlers v Nh Barrog

31 March, 2012

Bray Emmets pulled off a smash and grab victory over Naomh Barrog in Kilbarrack on Saturday. The Bray lads were slow to get out of the traps in this one and trailed at the interval 1:02 to 0:0. Great defensive play by Macdara O' Midheach, Matthew Dehanschutter, Sid Hunt and Andrew O'Brien helped limit the Naomh Barrog lead.

The second half sparked into light with an early Bray goal by Cian Lohan followed by a point from the Naomh Barrog lads. A second Bray goal from James Anders followed on from an inspiring period of centre forward domination led by Joe Phelan and Ben Kearney. With the score standing at 2:02 to 2:0 Naomh Barrog began to push forward and exert some pressure on the Bray backline. A loose ball in the Bray defence gifted Naomh Barrog a match winning opportunity only to be denied by a point blank save from Darragh Rochford in the Bray goal.  The match looked lost with seconds remaining when Tony Jackson turned the ball into Ronan Mc Mahon who fired on the ground forcing a fine save from the Naomh Barrog goal keeper and from the rebound Jacob Stanley scored the winning goal. Match over!   Bray 3:00 Nh Barrog 2:02

The Bray lads can take great credit coming from behind to win this difficult fixture with the last stroke of the game. It demonstrated great determination and a 'never-say-die' attitude. Special mention must go to Sean MacCrabhann, Lochlann Dougan, Tony Jackson, Andrew O Brien and Jacob Stanley who all rose and played indispensible parts in this memorable win.
