U12 Hurling V Crumlin

Bray Emmets got there U12 Dublin Hurling campaign off to a winning start in a chilly Pearse Park in Crumlin on Saturday. The match exploded into life with an early Crumlin goal followed by the sending off of one of their midfield players for an off the ball incident on Sid Hunt. Bray settled immediately with a fine point from Macdara Ó Midheach for the resulting free. Cian Lohan tagged on a close range point which was nullified by a second Crumlin goal. Bray immediately took the initiative with a long range goal from Joe Phelan followed by a second goal from Sid Hunt. The Bray team led 2:02 to 2:01 at half time.

After the interval Bray opened up the Drumlin defence and shut out there attacking play with some fine performances from Macdara Ó Midheach, Sid Hunt, Ciaran Mc Kay, Donnchadh Griffin, Lochlann Dougan and Ronan Mc Mahon. Matthew Dehanschutter made a series of impressive saves in the goal and distributed the ball well from the puck outs. Jacob Stanley, Fiachra Bond and Tony Jackson gave some of their best performances in the green and white with great determination and commitment. Cian Lohan (substituted early in the second half) returned to terrorise the Crumlin defence and eventually take a tally of 1:02 from centre half forward. James Anders gave a sterling performance with a total of 2:01 and worked tirelessly for the afternoon.

The game ended 6:05 to 2:03 to Bray. The margin of the win was notable but the overall performance of the team from the throw-in was impressive. With a number of players yet to return to the team the season ahead in both Dublin and Wicklow will be one to look forward to.
