Round Towers

6 June, 2009

The Dublin Hurling League started for us last week with a home game against Round Towers, Clondalkin. We already had a good result against the same team in the Cup. All players were well up for the game and put in great effort from the start. During the first half we were the better team and were on top in most parts of the field. There were some excellently taken scores by Michael Boland and Gavin Dowling which gave us a half time lead of 4-2 to 1-3. We continued playing good skilful hurling in the second half with an outstanding performance by Patrick Michel at centre back. His first touch hurling was a joy for anyone to watch. In the half forward line Daniel Kennedy was really getting stuck in and ended up scoring a great goal. Further scores were added from Michael Boland, Gavin and Conor Byrne.

All defenders including Conor O'Doherty, Padraig Doyle, Jack Fitzgerald, Conor Prendergast, Patrick Michel and goalkeeper Conor McNally were playing tight except for a few lapses of concentration which resulted in a couple of soft goals for Round Towers. Down the centre there was some excellent linking up and off the ball running between Dylan Terry, Gavin Dowling and Michael Boland. The final score was Bray Emmets 6-6, Round Towers 3-4.
