U12 host St Cronan’s N.S

10 February, 2012

For a second Friday evening in a row the U12 squad hosted St Cronan's N.S in Old Conna and for the second week both sets of teams didn't disappoint the large crowd that turned out to watch. In two very exciting games Bray Emmets managed to reverse the results of the previous week.

On pitch one Bray Emmets got into their stride early on and a couple of well taken goals by Macdara Ó Midheach and points from Darragh Rochford helped Emmets to a half time lead. St Cronans came back very strongly at the start of the second half with two quick goals but a couple of goals from Cian Lohan after some slick passing movements ensured Bray Emmets restored their lead and they kept this to the end.

Mick O'Gara and Ciaran McKay were the pick of the backs while Andrew Conway and Ben Kearney worked tirelessly in midfield.  In a fast moving forward line the cool finishing of Macdara Ó Midheach and Cian Lohan and the long range point scoring and ball distribution of Darragh Rochford were the highlights.

On pitch two Colm's team were determined to avenge the previous week's result.Tony Jackson the keeper on the night made several saves preventing certain goals, Michael Timmons and Rian Knox worked as part of an efficient back line, denying St Cronan's forwards scoring opportunities and tirelessly breaking up their attacks.

In midfield Jamie Baguley displayed his normal energetic selfless team ethic, ably assisted by Gavin Henderson and David Nesbitt. Conor Hardiman was in sharp form in the forward line scoring two goals and several points, Rory Lambe, who also rattled the back of the net, worked hard with Seán McDonagh dropping back from the forward line to assist the midfield whenever required. The final score was 3-7 to 3-5 in Bray Emmets favour, well done lads.

Both sets of teams contributed hugely to a very enjoyable game that was playing in a great spirit.
