Bray Emmets Under-11 Hurler
16 February, 2013
Bray Emmets Under-11 Hurlers played their counterparts
from Faughs over the weekend on the excellent astro pitch in Old
Conna (where would we be without it!!). In a game played over 3
periods everyone played their part in this friendly to get the
hurling season underway. In the first period excellent work by the
midfield pairing of Sam Kearney and Jack Treacy ensured a steady
flow of ball into the forward line where Sebastain Coleman, Oscar
Harty, Cathal Eddy and Ben Gorman proved very
dangerous.
The backline of Philip Jakob, Tadhg McCarthy, Eoin Holmes
and Aaron O'Rourke ensured the Faugh's fowardline were kept
quiet.
The second period saw the introduction of Riain MacMaolin,
Hannah Surpless, Aodain Daly, Ciaran Mangan and Daniel Munro who
all played very well and the team as a whole built on their first
period performance keeping Faughs scoreless whilst scoring an
excellently worked goal. Playing into the wind and getting tired,
Bray wilted a small bit in the final period allowing Faughs to come
back into the game but Bray finished the game with a goal in the
last puck of the game. Overall this was a worthwhile exercise with
everyone contributing to the effort. Particular mention must go to
our goal keeper, the most difficult position on the pitch, Zack
Collins who was brilliant through out, making numerous saves and
using very accurate puck outs to turn defense into attack. Thanks
to Faughs for coming out to play and ensuring the Under-11's go
into the league campaign with a game under their belt. The
Under-11's first match is against St. Judes next Saturday in Old
Conna.
