14 March, 2009
Last Saturday morning 14th March, we travelled to a windswept
Tymon Park to play St. Jude's. With both clubs down players due to
the bank holiday weekend we played 8 aside on the green pitch and 9
a side on the white pitch. This report is from the green pitch.
Aided by a strong wind in the first half and booming puck outs
from goalkeeper Stephen Finn we always had Jude's on the back foot.
Bray used this pressure and quickly got into a lead with 2 terrific
goals by Liam Carolan. The forwards of Mark Kenny and Conn Benville
tormented the Jude's defence by not allowing them time to clear
their lines cleanly. Bray earned a 65 and this was calmly
dispatched between the posts by Owen Duffy. Jude's only first half
score came from a breakaway move and a goalmouth scramble that was
eventually forced over the line.
With the wind against us for the second half we expected a
tougher half however our defence of Fintan O'Shea and Oisin Dougan
aided by Philip Redmond from midfield were absolutely superb in
stopping almost everything that came their way. Mark Kenny was put
chasing through on goal three times on his own only to be thwarted
by an out rushing keeper but follow up play got us further goals
from Conn Benville, Owen Duffy and Liam Carolan completed his hat
trick. Jude's scrapped another goal from a sideline cut into the
square, which was again forced over the line by a scramble of
players.
