Kilmacud

9 June, 2008

We played host to Kilmacud under warm blue skies on Saturday morning. As the visitors were short of players on the day we played one main match with a friendly on the second pitch. The friendly consisted of one Bray team and a 50:50 team of Kilmacud and Bray players.

The main report comes from the latter game. The mixed team started off really well and scored some very nice early scores with the Bray contingent contibuting very well. The ability of this team to run through from midfield was the telling factor in the first half. The full Bray team kept within striking distance and Mark scored a lovely point from a sideline kick to keep confidence up.

The second half saw the Bray lads emerge with new vigour and they attacked from the beginning. Some fine hand passing and movement from Oisin, Kevin and Oscar opened up the defence and Mark again finished off nicely. Our own Aaron, playing for the visitors scored a fine solo effort by taking on and beating two defenders.
At the end it was honours shared with a victorious half to each team. Man of the match on this pitch this week went to Mark. With some fine pieces of skill on show and tremendous effort this was a fine free flowing match to watch and the many spectators thoroughly enjoyed it.

The second pitch was where the "serious" action was taking place. Reports from Neil and Pat were that each and every one of the Bray lads put in a massive performance. Kilmacud who are never an easy team also played their part in this high scoring treat of football. The Bray lads lead at half time by a single point but they started to exert huge pressure in the second half. With very unselfish ball distribution and interplay and finished off by terrific score taking we managed to edge ahead. Final score on this pitch was a welcome win by 49-35.
