U10 action this week came from a home hurling game against Ballinteer. We have played this team several times over the last couple of years and we were expecting a close tight game.

Due to 1st communion commitments we were short a few players but we managed to field two teams. On the white pitch we had started well enough until three quick scores in succession hit us and this seemed to knock the wind out of our play. Owen and Ryan shared the goalkeeping duties in the first half and they were peppered with shots but they still managed to clear a lot of ball. The Ballinteer lads however were first rate and some of their scoring was breathtaking at times. With a spring in their step the opposition seemed to get to most balls first with our lads chasing and tackling as best they could. Liam, Stephen, Fintan and Philip kept going throughout. They managed to drive a ball into our forward line where Mark and Jimmy kept pressure on the visitors. There were a few nerve jangling goalmouth scrambles but unfortunately we got very little reward for our efforts. The match on the second pitch was of a similar back to the wall defensive game for the young Bray lads. Reports from this pitch credited Aaron with a man of the match performance in goals were he managed to keep the Ballinteer scoring down to a respectable level.Overall, despite a frustrating day the Bray lads showed some nice individual touches at times but a classy BSJ team overwhelmed us on the scoreboard.
