UNDER 12 CAMOGIE 28TH SEPTEMBER 2009 Semi Final U 12 Shield: Bray Emmets 1-2 Vs Kilcoole 2-0 On Friday 25th September, our under 12 girls travelled to Kilcoole to play the semi final of the Shield. Kilcoole scored a goal in each half and the Bray girls had a slow start but picked up the pace in the 2nd half. While the girls will be somewhat disappointed not to win they can be proud of themselves for having come so far having reached the semi final of the shield and being runners up in the B Championship. It has been a good season for the team and as individuals they have grown up a lot. It has been an eventful year both in training, matches, and the many events like the Wicklow Camogie Camp and the Croke Park trips to name a few. Congratulations to Kilcoole on their win and best of luck in the Final. Well done to all who played, we look forward to your continuing presence at the winter training on the Loreto Astro Turf in October on Monday night 7-8pm Training as usual 7-8 in Emmet Park on Monday, until October. Under 12 Camogie Final B Championship 7TH SEPTEMBER 2009 Donard 1-0 v Bray Emmets 0-1 The low score at the final whistle does not reflect the intensity of the game or the pace of the play. Bray Emmets met with Donard at the GAA grounds in Kilcoole on Friday 4th September and the match was “full on” from throw in to the final whistle. The Bray girls dominated where possession was concerned but failed to convert the possession into scores. Despite the brave attempts by Sarah Hayed, Shauna Douglas, Sophie Mooney and Caoimhe Lohan, our final tally was a single point. It was a nail biting game and was an enjoyable match to watch. The play was skilled and fast and both sides played great camogie. Well done girls on your skills and teamwork. The Bray girls were in the Donard half for much of the match but the cast iron back line and tight marking by the Donard girls thwarted the attempts of the Bray forwards. Congratulations to Donard on their win and although the Bray girls will be a little disappointed we say well done on playing such a fine game and the best of luck in the quarter final of the Shield which will take place on Friday 11th September V Donard @ 6.30 in Avondale. Our thanks to the Referee and to Kilcoole GAA club for the use of the grounds on the night. The panel: Ciara Nolan, Shauna Douglas, Caoimhe Lohan (Capt) Catherine Hayes, Rachel Hand, Caitlinn Hand, Maria Daly, Maedbh Ni Mhidigh, Sadbh Eglinton, Sarah Kate Hayde, Aifric Murphy, Sophie Mooney, Emma Groves, Eimear Ivory, Orlaith Griffin, Shannon Scanlon, Aoife Connaughton, Alex Weir, Emer Curtin, Amy O Connor. U 12 Camogie 22nd June 2009 Bray 1-0 Vs Annacurra 1-1 The scoreline says it all. It was a “full on” game from start to finish. Every ball and every score was hard fought for. Throughout the game there was a great show of camogie skills and every player gave of their best. The training on Monday nights is paying off! U12 Camogie 15TH JUNE 2009 We travelled to play Glenealy in the League last Friday, Having won our encounter at home; we were expecting to give them a good match. We started well but an injury to Aifric midway through the first half upset our rhythm and Glenealy took advantage to take the lead and go on and win the match, Though we lost this encounter to a good Glenealy side there are many positives, we can take from our display. All players played well with those to shine Eimear, Sophie and Shannon at the back who were kept very busy and they were ably assisted by Maria, Caoimhe and Emma in midfield. Our next match is against Annacurra in Emmet Park on Friday 19th of June. Training continues every Monday evening at 7 'o clock. New members or those wishing to try Camogie are welcome to attend. I hope everybody seen the Bray People last week. Camogie 8th June 2009 The Bray Emmets camogie girls had a very busy week, starting with a friendly U13 game vs Kilcoole on Tuesday 2nd June. The girls played well but in the end were beaten by a strong Kilcoole side. Well done to all who played and congratulations to Kilcoole on their win. On Wednesday many of our girls were playing for St Patricks NS in the Cumann na mBunscol camogie blitz. The games were held in Emmet Park Old Conna and 3 teams took part. Kilcoole, Bray Emmets and Ashford, all teams played very well and the Bray Girls were facing Kilcoole in the Final. The final resulted in a win for Kilcoole by a point. Congratulations St Patricks, you have come such a long way in a year! A special word of thanks must go to Mr Brian O'Doherty the principal of St Patrick's who has given so much encouragement and support to the promotion of camogie in the school. Well done to all the girls who took part, and judging by the happy faces all enjoyed the day. Congratulations again to Kilcoole NS, This was really your week of wins for club and school. Also please find photo of the U13 squad with trainers Paul Sweeney and Tomas O Mhideach. The Bray Emmets website:- www.brayemmets.com. On Friday night, 5th June Bray played an U12 league game at home to Ballinacor. In the first half the teams seemed evenly matched and only a goal separated the scores at half time. However in the 2nd half strong defence from Ballinacor kept our hopes of a score at bay and strong midfield play from Ballinacor ensured many scores in the second half. Having said that our players gave their best and there was great play from all the girls. Great play from newcomers Ellen Downey and Orlaith Griffin, well done Ellen and Orlaith! Next week Bray Emmets meets Glenealy away. Team: Caoimhe Lohan, Eimear Ivory, Eimear Clancy, Amy O Connor, Sarah Kate Hayde, Sophie Mooney, Aifric Murphy, Shauna Douglas, Emma Groves, Rachel Hand, Caitlinn Hand, Shannon Scanlon, Ciara Nolan, Ellen Downey, Orlaith Griffin. Camogie Notes 25th May 2009 On Friday evening we travelled to Kilcoole for an U12 Camogie match, in a match which had a lot of goal mouth scrambles, we were unfortunate to lose by 2 goals. We had a towering display from Aifric at midfield ably assisted by Emma. The defence was led by Sophie and Maeve who worked hard and cleared a lot of balls. Aoife came out of goal for the second half and had a great game. All the girls worked hard and put in a great display. Well done and welcome to Orlaith Griffin and Sabah Eglinton who played their first Camogie match in Bray Emmets colours the future looks bright. Training continues on Monday nights from 7.15pm - 8.15pm, new members are always welcome. Under 12 Camogie match Friday 3rd April 2009 13th April 2009
It was a wet and windy evening but there was a lot of Camogie action going on in Old Conna with the under 12 League game and 2 friendly under 10 games played against Cuala. Bray 3-0 v Glenealy 2 -1. This was never going to be an easy game against such a strong side but the Bray girls gave it their best and battled for every ball. Great Camogie played by both sides. Superb play from Shauna Douglas, Aifric Murphy, Emma Groves and Maria Daly kept the ball in midfield and towards the forward line. An unlucky goal caused Bray to be a goal down at half time and after the interval and talk from their coach, a more confident side emerged for the second half. The equaliser was scored by Emma Groves early in the 2nd half and while Glenealy got another goal and two points the Bray girls got 2 more goals one more from Emma Groves and one from Aifric Murphy. Great goal keeping from Eimear Ivory and steady defence work from Caoimhe Lohan, Sarah Kate Hayde, Eimear Clancy , Sophie Mooney and Emer Curtin kept the ball in midfield. We had three newcomers, Amy O Connor, Caitlinn Hand and Shannon Scanlon, it was their first match and they did very well. You can be very proud of yourselves! Subs: Ciara Nolan and Maedhbh Ni Mhidigh also played a great game in the second half. The team: Eimear Ivory, Eimear Clancy, Amy O Connor, Emma Groves(2-0) Maria Daly, Aifric Murphy(1-0), Emer Curtin, Caitlinn Hand, Caoimhe Lohan, Shauna Douglas, Shannon Scanlon, Sarah Kate Hayde, Subs: Maedhbh Ni Mhidigh, Ciara Nolan Wicklow Camogie Workshop Wicklow Camogie County Board is holding a 3 day workshop to be run by the Development Officer from Croke Park.
