Camogie Feile 2015

Congratulations to the Feile Camogie team, they did us all proud!

All Ireland Feile Competition 2015, Friday 26th, Saturday 27th and Sunday 29th June.
The 2015 All Ireland Feile Competition is being hosted by Counties, Carlow, Wexford and Wicklow.  There are two separate competitions for boys and girls under the age of 14 years. Every county in Ireland will have a team in the competition and there will also be teams from GAA Associations all over the world.  Emmet Bhre is one of the regional centres for the competition.  Our Club Secretary, Anne Healy is co-ordinating the Feile events in Pairc Emmet Bhre.

Bray Emmets have two boys and two girl’s teams in the competition. The Boys A team will be based in Naomh Eanna in Gorey, the Boys B will be at home, the girls A Team will be in Bunclody and the girls B team are in Newtown. This is a big undertaking by the team mentors and parents to have four teams competing. The parents and mentors will provide accommodation for the New York boys and girls teams, the Oldcastle, (Meath) boy’s and Ballysaggart (Waterford) girl’s teams.  We thank all the parents for hosting the visiting players.

We will have games in Pairc Emmet Bhré on Friday evening 26th beginning at 5pm and all day Saturday 27th, starting at 10.30am.  On Saturday afternoon at 3pm and 4.30pm we have the quarter finals where a total of 16 teams will be playing on our four pitches.

We are asking for the support of all our members and supporters on Friday and Saturday to assist with stewarding, parking and catering on this special weekend for Emmet Bhré.

Please contact Anne Healy at secretary.brayemmets.wicklow@gaa.ie. An hour over the weekend would be a great help.

If you have any Bray Emmets hi-viz jackets, please return them as they will be needed over the weekend. See attached document with key Feile times.

Get Well Wishes
All in Bray Emmets wish our club member Harry Stephenson a speedy recovery following his recent serious injury during training.  Harry is recovering after a first operation and will have another one later this year. Harry is a member of our senior hurling and junior football teams. He will be a big loss to both teams this year.  Although his injuries will curtail his playing activity this year, we know that Harry will contribute to our club in many other ways, as he has always done.

Wicklow County Men’s Senior Football Team
Congratulations to all concerned with the team after their great performance against Meath. Our club was represented on the team by Arran Murphy, Niall Gaffney, Paul  Cunningham, while P. J. Cunningham is a selector.  We wish the team good luck as they travel to play Armagh on Saturday 27th June in Armagh at 2.30.

Bray Emmets School Blitz
The 3G pitch in Pairc Emmet Bhré has accommodated over 500 boys and girls from four of our feeder schools during this month of June as part of the Bray Emmets end of year School Blitz.

On Tuesday 9th June there were over 150 1st Class boys/girls, where we had over 32 blitz games games take place from 10am to 2pm. On Thurs 11th June we had the same number of 2nd and 3rd Class pupils and on Thursday 18th there were blitz games for 4th and 5th classes. These were fun blitzes where the players from four feeder schools; Gaelscoil Ui Cheadaigh, Scoil Chualann, St Peter’s and Ravenswell, got to practice their skills that Bray Emmets Coach, Willie Braine has been coaching them since last September. The skills on show were a credit to the players and the extra practice that the teachers encourage through the schools.

This was a great way of showcasing the excellent facilities that we have in Bray Emmets as well as encouraging the students to join. The organization, coaching and refereeing was excellent with the players and indeed the parents/teachers being very impressed by all the Bray Emmets coaches. These coaches are our young player volunteers, who are the future of Bray Emmets and excellent role models, aptly led by our referee coordinator Ciaran Barnes. The coaches included players from our Girls and Boys Feile teams, who will be in action this weekend in the All Ireland Feile, against teams from New York, Meath and Waterford. Players from U 14 to Minor also answered the call to help, even Shane Slattery and Conor Doherty came straight from their final Junior and Leaving cert exams. Best of luck in the results to all that helped – you are a credit to the club.

Match Reports

U8 Girls Football Blitz in Baltinglass

We played 3 matches in this Blitz against Baltinglass, St. Pats and Tinahely. We won all 3 again this week but didn't have it all our own way. We nearly let a 3-0 lead slip in the first match with some loose defending but managed to hang on. A much better performance in the 2nd match from start to finish for a comfortable win and although we let in a couple of early goals in the 3rd match the girls found their stride again and pulled away. Aisling and Aine played well but standout player was Kate Slattery. 3 very good games, lots of points and even a spell playing for Tinahely.

Foireann: Aine Hayde, Aisling O'Keefe, Grace Kennedy, Kate Butler, Kate Slattery, Katie Curran, Kimberly Kennedy, Lili Neilson, Naoise Sweeney McMaster

Bainisteoir: Alan Kennedy

U11 Camogie

Bray Emmets Vs Faughs Celtic
Faughs were having a day out in Bray and so we arranged this match to suit.Numbers were difficult to make up due to the Feile so we had some of our U9's play. With two teams on each side we played four very competitive games.

Despite a few bumps and bruises the games were played in a friendly manner. And there was some super scores from both side.  And our U9's did really well against some much larger opponents.  We had two wins, a draw and one loss. A few treats after and everyone was happy except Madge who needs a new hurl!

Foireann: U11 - Aine Farrel, Eimear Timmons, Kaleigh Broderick, Madge Redmond, Olivia Kissane.
U10 - Ailbhe Whittle, Alannah Harrington, Annie Redmond, Aoibhe Traynor, April Harty, , Eimear Hardiman, Emma Nesbit, Jasmine Kennedy,
U9 - Cara Mahony,Saibh Smierciak, Tara Maher.

Bainisteoiri: Ian Nesbit, Alan Kennedy

First Aid: Lisa Mahony.
