Bray Emmets Open Day
Monday, August 29, 2011
Bray Emmets GAA club are holding an open day on the 3rd September 2011 from 10.00am until midday for boys and girls born in 2006, 2005 and 2004. The session will be held on our fully enclosed all weather facility at Old Connaught Avenue where children will participate in skills and games of hurling, camogie and football.
Our priority is always to cater for the physical and social development of the children in a fun and safe environment.
Bray Emmets Academy caters for the youngest children in the club, aged from 5-8 years. The Academy year runs from September to June to tie in with the school year. Children who have turned five or who will do so before the end of the calendar year are eligible to become members of our Academy.
The emphasis in the first year is on developing the children's general physical abilities with emphasis on the ABCs (Agility, Balance, Co-ordination). The following years place more emphasis on the particular skills of Hurling and Gaelic Football to prepare the children to take part in the interclub leagues which start at Under 8.
Bray Emmets is a thriving GAA club which fields teams in Football, Hurling, Camogie and Ladies Football and welcomes players of all abilities at any time during the year. Bray Emmets hosted a Croke Park initiative over the summer months which promoted Gaelic games as a recreational sport through its Just Play games, and they also hosted a series of games in the final two weeks of the summer term whereby hundreds of pupils from the national schools in Bray played Gaelic football. Camogie was also facilitated in the month of June when teams from St Patricks School played Bray Emmets teams over one evening at Old Connaught Avenue.
The facilities at Old Connaught Avenue include an all-weather pitch, two adult pitches and one juvenile pitch. The clubhouse serves teas and coffees on a Saturday morning and will also host the registration days which will be on the 10th and 17th September from 10.15am - 11.30 am. The MBNA Kick Fada will also be held on the afternoon of the 10th September 2011 when GAA stars from around the country will be participating, last year Bernard Brogan was amongst the participants.
