Wicklow 3-18, Dublin North 1-2

The future of Wicklow hurling looks very good indeed based on this powerful performance against Dublin North at the weekend. This Wicklow team which is powered by some 6 Bray Emmets players dominated the first half and displayed some marvellous combination play in the forwards where Mickey Lee and Stephen Cody were unstoppable and contributed 1-9 and 1-3 respectively. In the backs Chris Lyons (0-2), Hughie Douglas and Pierce Sweeney played excellently (Hugh Douglas had a man-of-the match performance). John Manley and Jimmy Kelly won the midfield battle.  Nickie Sweeney, who is Bray's most improved player this year also played very well. Jim Doyle, who came on as substitute in the second half made an immediate impact by scoring a marvellous point. He must have made a very good argument for inclusion from the start in future.

The reward for this display is a date in Croke Park next Friday. Good luck to all.
