Ninth Annual MBNA Kick Fada
Tuesday, September 09, 2008
On Saturday we host the annual MBNA Kick Fada in Old
Conna. It's all hands to the pump for GAA fans as support is
required on many levels to host this major national event. The
legendary Michael O Muircheartaigh will be your mc for the day and
will certainly attract fans with his inimitable commentary style.
The action starts at 10.30am as the Mini All-Ireland hurling
competitions takes place with 8 Leinster under 14 teams travelling
to take part in what is an exciting side show to the main
event.
At 12.45 it's the turn of the Ladies to test their long kicking
skills. This is followed by the men's competition at 2pm where a
host of county stars will compete for the All-ireland MBNA Kick
Fada crown. A top class team is currently being assembled for the
competition now that the All Ireland runners is down to Kerry
and Tyrone. Fermanagh's Liam Barron has been a consistent supporter
of the Bray competition and is expected to be joined by fellow
county man Marty McGrath this year. Among the former winners
competing will be two time champ Padraig Kelly from Offaly and
Mayo's Fintan Ruddy with last year's holder John Brennan from
Carlow also in the mix.
As ever this promises to be an exciting event and all support is
welcome to the Bray Emmets campus in Old Conna. Entrance is
free
