U10 Camogie & Football

16 June, 2017

While the boys were doing us proud in the Feile the girls blitzes carried on. We had two this week, Camogie on Wed in Ballinakill and we hosted 12 teams in Bray on Sat for Football. The weather couldn't have been more different, cold & windy in Ballinakill and a scorcher in Bray. We finished the week with 4 wins ...

Wicklow Go Games blitz

10 April, 2017

The first Wicklow Go Games blitz of the season and there were eleven U10 teams in Ballinakill. We played against Blessington, Newtown & An Tochar and are very pleased to report that we had 3 good wins. Most pleasing of all was the improvements in our newest players. They have really started to settle into the team and Mia in particular played really well. Goal of the day went to Niamh.  Foireann:Brenna, Isabel, Kate S, Kate B, Katie, Kimberly, Laoise, Leonie, Mia, Niamh, Orla, Rianna, Ruby, Rosa, Bainisteoirí : Anita Slattery & Alan Kennedy. ...

U10 Girls Football blitz - Wicklow

30 July, 2016

We attended a blitz in St Pats and played 3 matches. With a mix up over the start time we were only out of our cars when the first match against Newtown started so it was understandable that we started slow. Thankfully we just about held on in the first half. Much better second half and points from Kate S & Tara got us he win. We were too strong for Pats 2 in the second match and although Pats 1 were more competitive in the third match we were again too strong so finished off with three wins from three. Star player was Emily Ryan.  Foireann: Aine, Cara, Emily, Kate S, Katie C, Kate B, Niamh M, Rachel, Saibh, Tara Bainisteoiri: Alan Kennedy, Lisa Mahony, Marie Curran, Anita Slattery...

Bray Emmets  v Naomh Olaf This was our last Dublin fixture before their summer break.  After all the morning excitement from the end of the Academy and the fact that the ice cream van hovered in the background it was hard to concentrate on the game ahead.  A bit of a slow start and Olaf's played some nice football to take the lead.  This woke us up and we started to play much better but we unable to convert our chances. The second half was again tough to make a breakthrough but persistent breaks forward finally started to pay off and goals from Ciara, Annie and Cara (with her hand) finally paid off.  But special note to Katie who played brilliant in defence and was left 3-on-1 many times but still manged to clear the lines. The ice creams after were well earned! Foireann:  Aisling, Anna, Annie, Ciara, Cara, Ella, Emily, Katie C, Katherine, Laoise, Niamh M, Roisin, Siamh, Tara Bainisteoir: Alan Kennedy...

U10 Girls Football Blitz

11 June, 2016

We had a football blitz in Roundwood where we played three matches.  First off we lost again to Ashford who have some good players but a little loss of concentration in defence let them in for some easy scores. Next we played Ashford and had a very competitive game that rightly finished as a draw. Although we let them score too easily again.  The team talk for the last game focused on defence and teamwork and it really showed in the last game against An Tochar. Our poor keeper never even got a touch because our mids and forwards did so well.  Ciara, Kate & Laoise played very well in all three games but Annie finished off the day with a huge point that drew gasps from the parents of both sides. Foireann: Aine, Anna, Annie, Grace R, Ciara, Kate B, Laoise, Rosa, Teagan, Zoe Bainisteoir: Alan Kennedy...

U10 Girls Camogie

28 May, 2016

Camogie Blitz - Greystones We also had a camogie blitz and played matches against Eire Og, Glenealy and Kilcoole.  Such a contrast to the soaking we got last week, we all got sunburnt this time. The first game against Eire Og was a well played out draw.  Glenealy had a strong team out and were too much for us. The last game against Kilcoole was a cracking game.  End to end stuff and we took the lead with a brilliant goal with a clearance from defence by Saibh, another from Kimberly in mid and finished off by Lily.  We held them off until just at the end when they got one back for the draw. Foireann:  Aine, Ciara, Kate B, Lily, Kimberly, Orla, Rosa, Saibh Bainisteoir: Alan Kennedy...

21 May, 2016

Bray Emmets  v St. Marks Girls played outstanding against St. Marks. They were down players so Roisin & Niamh were good enough to play for St. Marks and helped make our girls work that bit harder. We had a strong start with no scoring from St. Marks so we had to move around the girls at half time to make make our team less attacking and help make a fairer match for everyone. Birthday girl Ashling celebrated with a cracking goal. Great team work with great passing Foireann:  Aisling, Anna, Cara, Erica, Grace K, Grace R, Katie C, Katie C, Niamh M, Roisin, Tara. U10 Girls Football

14 May, 2016

Versus Ashford, St Pats and Shankill We had a blitz in Ashford in the morning and a match against Shankill in the afternoon.  We sent one team to each venue and had three very good matches.  In Ashford we played against 16 St. Pats players who subbed on a whole different team for the second half so our girls had to play against fast fresh legs.  But no bother to them, they defended brilliantly and scored great points on the break. The second match against Ashford was even to start with but a couple of accidental knocks to two players meant we played with 6 ½ players and this was too much to ask to hold off a good team.  Super sub Grace gave us a lift but was too late by then.  The match against Shankill was very even and they have improved a lot since we last played them but we help on for a good win in the end. Foireann:  Aine Hayde, Anna Ni Chonchubhaire, Annie McLoughlin, Cara Mahony, Ciara Lambe, Ella Carroll, Ella Cummins, Emily Ryan, Erica Sammon, Grace Kennedy, Grace Redmond, Kate Butler, Kate Slattery, Katie Curran, Kimberly Kennedy, Laoise O'Driscoll Niamh Clancy, Niamh Mahony, Orla Fitzsimons, Roisin Ni Chonchubhaire, Rosa Lackey, Tara Maher  Bainisteoiri: Alan Kennedy, Lisa Mahony, Marie Curran...

U10 Girls football blitz

23 April, 2016

Our first Wicklow football blitz together with the U8's. A perfect morning for the 11 visiting teams. We had two U10 teams and played 6 matches against St Pats, Roundwood and Newtown and finished with 5 wins and a draw. This was the first outing for a number of girls and after the initial nerves in the first game they got into to their stride after that. Great performances from Ciara, Erica, Kate, Rachel and Tara but special meantion to Teagan on her first game who was great in goal and Ruby who scored too many points! Foireann: Aine Hayde, Aisling O'Keeffe, Anna Ni Chonchubhaire, Cara Mahony, Erica Sammon, Grace Kennedy, Grace Redmond, Kate Butler, Kate Slattery, Niamh Canavan, Rachel O'Brien, Roisin Ni Chonchubhaire,  Ruby Hannon, Saibh Smierciak , Tara Maher, Teagan Cronin, Zoe Hannon.  Bainisteoiri: Alan Kennedy, Lisa Mahony, Shane Slatery...

Bray Emmets  vs Naomh Olaf We had two teams who played two games each and all combined we had four good wins.  Not only good attacking but great defence to keep the scores against few and far between. Team Jellyfish (don't ask) had great points from Ella & Cara but Emily & Tara were great in midfield picking up every loose ball. While on Team Cobra Katie played a stormer backed up ably by Niamh Clancy and Erica but 18 very good team performances over all.  Foireann: Aine Hayde, Annie McLoughlin, Cara Mahony, Ciara Lambe, Ella Cummins, Emily Ryan, Erica Sammon, Grace Redmond, Kate Butler, Kate Slattery, Katie Curran, Kimberly Kennedy, Laoise O'Driscoll, Niamh Canavan, Niamh Clancy, Niamh Mahony, Saibh Smierciak , Tara Maher Bainisteoiri: Alan Kennedy, Marie Curran...

U10 Girls Football

2 April, 2016

Bray Emmets v St. Marys Saggart A rotten day but the girls were full of sugar from the photo session in the club earlier. We travelled to Saggart and despite the conditions it was well worth the trip for a great match. Our girls initially couldn't get used to the fact that the ball would not bounce on the mud (I blame the 3G) but then got their kick timing in and we scored some great points. We played better again in the second half but despite a lot of attacking their goal they were mostly wides. The overs in the first half meant we held on for the win. Foireann: Annie McLoughlin, Cara Mahony, Ella Carroll, Ella Cummins, Emily Ryan, Erica Sammon, Grace Redmond, Niamh Mahony, Kimberly Kennedy, Katie Curran Bainisteoiri: Alan Kennedy, Lisa Mahony...

St Pats Blitz On Saturday morning the girls travelled down to St. Pats in Wicklow for their first Co. Wicklow football blitz of the season. At the final whistle the scores were level. The third and final match was against another strong St Pat's team, Ellen O'D was tasked with marking the St Pat's star player which she did with determination and to great effect, Ellen W made some great runs and Eimear's passing ensured Bray kept possession of the ball, a cruel last second goal to St. Pats levelled the scores and denied Bray a deserved victory. Team: Aibhe Whittle, Amy Brien, Cara Mahony, Eimear Hardiman, Ellen O'Doherty, Ellen Walshe, Kaleigh Broderick, Martha Lackey, Olivia Kissane, Roisin Dubh,...

U10 Girls win low scoring encounter

15 June, 2013

On a sunny Páirc Emmet Bhré last weekend, our Under-10 Girls competed against St Marks in a very tight contest. St. Marks came out of the blocks to dominate the early stages but the girls from Bray, with great endeavour and composure, eventually settled into game. Amy Butler and Sarah Lambe began to dominate in midfield and chances were created. Our defence held firm with tigerish performances from Aoife Gorman, Eirinn Doyle and Eva Hanley. Meadbh Wogan-Murphy’s great goalkeeping also kept St. Marks at bay. Ellen Docherty and Eimear Timmons combined well together to create scores for Sarah Maguire (0-2) and Amy Butler (0-2). Many thanks to Paul McSweeney for his help and the parents for their great vocal support. Overall it was a very entertaining game and the girls performed with great skill and competitiveness to win 0-4 to 0-3. Many thanks to referee Connor Docherty who contributed by letting the game flow...

U10 Girls play in Naomh Ólaf

18 May, 2013

The U-10 Girls' Football team played in Naomh Ólaf on Saturday, 18th May. Our first game was against the girls from Robert Emmets, the former club of big Niall Quinn. The game was well-contested but the Bray girls were a more seasoned, clinical outfit.  Great scores came from Eimear Timmons and Chloe Messitt. In the second game, we played the host team, Naomh Olaf. The Sandyford girls were strong. We lost the first-half. However, in the second-half Sarah Lambe, Eirinn Doyle and an energetic Laura Doyle ensured a one point win for Tony's gallant Under-10's.  Comhgairdeas leo ar fad agus buíochas mór le Naomh Olaf. Emmet Bhré U-10: Amy Butler, Aoife Carter, Chloe Messitt (0-1), Eimear Timmons (2-2), Éirinn Doyle, Laura Doyle, Méadhbh Wogan-Murphy, Sarah Lambe (0-4). Bainisteoir - Tony Doyle....

Under-10 Girls Football

20 April, 2013

The Under-10 Girls Football team played two games in Bohernabreena on Saturday, 20th April. The first was a very evenly contested duel with Naomh Olaf. From the opening exchanges, both Katie Murray and Saoirse Canavan gave 100% to the Bray cause. The important scores came from two very industrious players, Ellen O'Doherty and Sarah Lambe. The second game saw the girls pitted against local team St. Anne's. This was a more difficult proposition as they had two or three superior players who brought them over the line. Nevertheless, we gave a proud and brave account of ourselves, with players like Sarah Maguire, Aoife Canavan and Chloe Messitt showing their merit.Emmet Bhré U-10: Aoife Canavan, Chloe Messitt, Ellen O'Doherty (1-0), Eimear Timmons, Emma Brandon, Katie Murray, Meadhbh Wogan-Murphy, Saoirse Canavan, Sarah Lambe (0-1), Sarah Maguire (0-3). In the second game, feisty midfielders Amy Butler and Sarah Lambe got the all-important scores while Emma Brandon and Rosanna Turner provided the essential ball supply for that to happen. In the third game, Sarah Maguire was the tormenter-in-chief running up 2-1 on the scoreboard. Ellen O'Doherty and Fay Whelan also caught the eyes of the appreciative spectators.
