Senior Ladies (Ladies Intermediate League Final 2014)
14 September, 2014
Bray 3 – 10 Blessington 1 - 12 Bray Emmets Ladies finished off their 2014 campaign with a great win over Blessington in the Intermediate League Final on Sunday afternoon. Blessington won the toss and it ended up being a home game for them. This was the third meeting of these two teams. We drew in the first match in the Combined Cup competition in early March and they beat us by five points in the second round of the championship back in July. But this was the match that counted the most “The League Final”. This was a follow up to our success in the Senior B Final and our aim to complete the DOUBLE. 30 Ladies lined out today to contest this final and it would be unfair to single out any individual for praise as every girl, those lucky enough to play, or those on the bench gave their commitment to this squad over the last year. This was a combined effort from our under 16’s, minors and senior Ladies. The praise today goes to the Manager, Coach and mentors of this squad. They could see the potential in these girls and worked hard throughout the year to keep this team together. They promised they would play their part to bring success to Bray Emmet’s Ladies. So WELL DONE Paul Hunt, Ger Lenihan, Mossie Kelly, Dave Barry, Gaye Heffernan and Anne Longmore. A big thank you to our supporters who gave great encouragement and lively comments from the side-line. Bray will now play in the Senior Competitions for 2015. Bring it on....

Bray Emmets 3 – 12 St. Patricks 2 – 4 Bray started well and within two minutes had the first score on the board. We played with the wind in the first half which was an advantage for our forwards who put up a score of 2 – 9 before the break. St Pat's were no push over and had a score of 2 – 2 themselves. Bray came out in the second half determined that we could win. The strength of our defences line and skill of our mature players was to be the deciding factor in this game. Bray went on to score two goals and three points to St Pat's two points in the second half. This Final on Saturday evening in Arklow was won by every girl from under 16 to senior who has played for Bray Senior Ladies this season. They have played well together as a team and their commitment to training every Monday and Thursday has been outstanding. I could praise the 20 girls lucky enough to play in this Senior B final, but that would not do justice to the rest of the squad who were unfortunate not to be picked and who turned up to cheer on their team mates. Well done to all the girls and we will get to celebrate together in the near future. I would like to take this opportunity to thank our sponsors of our new jerseys ANNA SCHU BEAUTY SALON Also to Liam O'Donovan 'A Million Thanks' for sourcing them ...

Bray Emmets 3-8, AGB 1-3 Bray Emmets ladies faced AGB for a very tough game in the league this week. Bray got out ahead in the first half with a beautiful pass from Amy Barry to Niamh Coleman (2-3) for a goal early on. AGB always came back hard, but Danika Goulding made some wonderful blocks and Claire Fawley managed to keep them goalless at half time with a number of fantastic saves. Bray Emmets pulled away in the second half with a fabulous chest pass from Seona Michel to Mikeala Shelly (0-1) for a great point from the 40meter line. AGB continued fighting but Shaunna Douglas and Grace O'Donovan remained strong. Aoife Sherlock (0-1) made a huge impact up front and bray continued pulling away. Racheal Cunningham's continuous interceptions were too much for AGB and with Grace's free blocked down it was game over, ending 3-8 to 1-3 ...

23 March, 2014
The Senior Ladies played the second game of the Combined Cup on Sunday last against our near neighbours Enniskerry. This was our first home match and it was good to see a large turnout of supporters to cheer them on. Bray started well and we had a goal and three points notched up within the first 10 minutes. Enniskerry did not give up and our three backs, Grace O'Donovan, Sarah Longmore and Sheena Smith had to defend well to keep our opponents at bay. Claire Frawley was on hand to make numerous saves and kept the rivals score down to two goals in the first half. Bray passed the ball well and we gained some more points from Seona Michel who had a tremendous game along with Juliette Fortune who scored a hat trick. Enniskerry started well in the second half, but Bray had more strength in their forwards and we scored three more goals from the boot of Amy Barry, Sinead Kelly and Sarah McGraynor. Mikaela Shelly scored a point, but came off injured and was replaced by Anna Ryan. Siofra Heffernan scored two points but was also injured and was substituted by Cathy Waters. Aisling Ni Hannaidh gave us two points from frees. Rachel Cunningham as always caught every ball that came to her and with Laura Richardson, Aoife O'Donovan and Caoimhe Lohan playing incredible football we soon closed out the game on a score of 6 – 11 to 4 – 3. This was a marvellous, skilled and clean game of football and great to watch. Thanks to all who made the sandwiches and especially Rosemary & PJ who served & cleaned up and we hope Enniskerry enjoyed our hospitality.

Bray's first game of the league was played in Blessington last Sunday Morning 9th March. We had a very good turnout of players, and everyone was eager to play. Blessington were stiffer opposition from Newtown in our Cup game. We played with the wind in the first half but were unable to notch up enough points to make playing easier in the second half. Blessington started very well in the second half and made up the difference quiet easily. Bray had to defend well to keep this game from ending in a defeat. In the end we settled for the draw and praise to all the girls for a very enjoyable game of football. The Score was Bray 3 – 4 Blessington 2 – 7

Combined Cup North District: Bray Ladies played their first match of the season against Newtown on Monday Evening 3rd March under lights in Newtown. We had a full squad out, consisting of U16, Minors and Senior Ladies. This Cup Competition enables us to play our underage players and gives them a sense of being part of the Senior Squad. The Newtown Girls were strong for a Junior team, but Bray managed to hold them at bay and had a good win of 3 – 6 to 0 – 3. Well Done Ladies

Senior Ladies loose out in B Championship Final
22 September, 2013
Well done to our Ladies Senior Footballers who put in a fantastic display in the B Championship Final in Roundwood last Sunday evening, 15th September. The scoreline did not reflect the work rate and enthusiasm that the girls played with. A few things went against us and in the end, it just wasn't meant to be our night! With a combination of younger and older girls, the future of Ladies Football in Bray now looks bright but as always, commitment and hard work will be required. Here’s hoping we can build on the progress made this year in 2014. Final score: Valleymount 5-8 1-9 Bray Emmets.
Panel: Pam McDermott (Captain), Aoife Heffernan, Siofra Heffernan, Aoife O’Donovan, Claire Frawley, Sarah Longmore, Lauren Barry, Niamh Coleman, Danika Goulding, Mikaely Shelley, Rachel Cunningham, Jessica Conway, Clarice Meeney, Seona Michelle, Jenny Ryan, Anna Ryan, Lauren Rowe, Caoimhe Lohan, Juliette Fortune, Grace O’Donovan, Aoife Keddy, Aoife Sherlock, Amy Barry, Alannah Conroy....
Senior Ladies Football V Tinahely
29 July, 2013
On Monday evening, 29th July, the Ladies Senior Football Team concluded the group phase of their championship when they hosted Tinahely at Páirc Emmet Bhré. Despite defeats in the two previous rounds confirming their exit from the competition, a squad of sixteen players was available to line out against a very strong Tinahely side that had already progressed to the semi-finals. The Bray girls acquitted themselves very well and showed that they are more than capable of putting in a good performance, even against a side as talented as the current County champions. The players displayed great commitment in this match and worked together well as a team. Encouragingly, Emmets managed to put eleven scores on the board and this was testament to the effort shown by every girl that played. The Ladies Senior Football Team will now play in the B Championship in September so training will continue as usual on Monday nights....

Senior Ladies loose out to AGB
14 July, 2013
Bray Senior Ladies were well beaten in the first round of the Championship by a very strong and well organised AGB side. Bray never got into the game and with lack of fitness and heat were very exhausted by the end of the first half. We played a little better in the second half and managed to put a few scores on the board. Well done to our younger players who played their first senior championship and hope you were not put off by the score. Our second game is next Saturday in Valleymount at 6pm....

30 June, 2013
On Sunday morning, 30th June, our Ladies Football team travelled to Valleymount. With some of our younger players also making the journey, it was very encouraging that these girls showed how capable they are to play at senior level. This was an important match for the Bray Ladies as they will meet Valleymount in the second round of the Senior Championship. The team now has the next few weeks to concentrate on playing together and to build up fitness and skills level. Thanks to Liam Reed and his team for making our girls feel most welcome. Bray Emmets’ first Championship game is on at 3.00 p.m. Sunday, 14th July at Páirc Emmet Bhré against Arklow Geraldines Ballymoney....

Bray Emmets’ first game of the Ladies Senior League was played in Páirc Emmet Bhré on Sunday, 21st April with our opponents being neighbours Eire Óg Greystones. Bray played with a strong breeze in the first half but made little use of it and were guilty of making a number of unforced errors which left the home side seven points down at half time. Things did not improve in the second half with Eire Óg taking full advantage of the breeze to emerge as worthy winners on a scoreline of Bray Emmets 1-5 Eire Óg Greystones 4-18. Next up is a home game against AGB on Sunday, 28th April.Emmet Bhre: Pam McDermott (Captain), Cliona Horgan, Cathy Waters, Aoife Heffernan, Siofra Heffernan (0-1), Aoife O’Donovan, Claire Frawley, Sarah Longmore, Lauren Barry (0-1), Niamh Coleman (0-1), Danika Goulding, Mikaely Shelley, Amy Devereux, Sarah Devlin, Siobhan Egan, Alisha Doyle (1-2), Rachel Cunningham....
Senior Ladies hard work pays off against Tinahely
7 April, 2013
Naturally, confidence was low after losing our first three games and it proved difficult to field a team for our match against Tinahely on Sunday, 7th April. However, eleven unenthusiastic girls lined out at Páirc Emmet Bhré (which was in great condition thanks to Pat Wogan) and turned in a fine performance. Every one of the girls played out of their skin, with great passing and calling for the ball. Our stand in goalkeeper Lauren Barry had an amazing game and made numerous saves. As in our last two games, our backs performed well with Pam McDermott, Sarah Longmore and Cliona Horgan holding firm. Cliona, along with Danika Goulding, are two of our younger players but both played superbly and deserve their place on this team. Our forwards also combined well with Siofra Heffernan scoring a goal and three points, Cathy Waters kicking a point and a very sick Lauren Rowe, playing through the pain barrier to also add a point. But the main plaudits must go to our three midfielders, Aoife O’Donovan, Clare Frawley (the new girl!) and especially Aoife Heffernan. Aoife ran the length of the pitch and caught every ball that came her way. Her skill and commitment to this team is simply outstanding. Clare Frawley and Aoife O’Donovan marked their players very well and fed the forwards with some exceptional good passes. Well done girls and it’s great to have the first win of the season under the belts!Final Score: Bray 1-7 Tinahely 2–1.Panel – Pam McDermott (Captain), Cliona Horgan, Cathy Waters, Aoife Heffernan, Siofra Heffernan, Aoife O’Donovan, Clare Frawley, Sarah Longmore, Lauren Barry, Lauren Rowe, Danika Goulding....
Senior Ladies loose out to St Pats
3 April, 2013
On Wednesday, 3rd April, the Ladies Senior Footballers played their third game of the season against St. Patricks Wicklow. Like the first two games of the campaign so far, Emmets struggled with numbers while St. Patricks could call on a panel of 25 players. However, Bray’s cause was helped by the fact that we were allowed to play with our County players and hence, Eadaoine Lenihan togged out for her first Club game this year. Overall, this was a more productive performance as we passed the ball very well and played more as a team. Our younger players, Lauren Barry, Aoife O’Donovan and Cliona Horgan have stepped up a notch on their playing skills and along with Siofra Heffernan and Cathy Waters have now made a mark on this developing Senior team. Niamh Coleman kept us ticking over with a haul of nine points while Alisha Doyle kicked two goals and two points. Mikeala Shelly and Aoife Heffernan also scored a point a piece but in the end, St. Patricks emerged victorious with five points to spare.Final Score: Bray Emmets 2–14 St Patricks 4–13.Panel – Amy Deveraux, Pam McDermott (Captain), Cliona Horgan, Cathy Waters, Aoife Heffernan, Siofra Heffernan, Aoife O’Donovan, Alisha Doyle, Niamh Coleman, Clare Frawley,Sarah Longmore, Eadaoine Lenihan, Mikealy Shelly, Lauren Barry...

Senior Ladies Cup 2011 V Blessington
11 March, 2011
Our Senior Ladies played their First match of the Senior Cup
against Blessington in Old Connaught last Friday Evening. Our
girls started very strong and it was not long before Alisha Doyle
found the back of the net. She was to add another goal and two
point to her tally. Avril Bryne, Aoife O'Donovan, and Sorcha
Crimmins had a stormer of a game. Cathy Goulding played in goal for
the first half and made some excellent saves. Five of the Senior
Ladies team Caroline Bolger, Siobhan Egan, Eileen Henley, Sinead
Boland and Karen O'Reilly had brilliant games. But on the night the
Lady of the match has to go to Ashling Driver, who put away three
goals and it only her second time playing Gaelic. All our
girls put in a great team effort, due mainly to the time they have
put into their training. Well Done. Final Score Bray 6 -
