Bray Emmets 05- 11
Eire Og 03-08
Bray Emmets consolidated their second placed league position with a deserved home win against seaside neighbours, Eire Og of Greystones. On a day borrowed from summer, Bray started the brightest with an early procession of scores through Aoife Heffernan and Khalie Medlar. For the first 20 minutes, Bray were in full control and looked to be setting up a substantial lead. However, to their credit Eire Og never conceded defeat. With some impressive running, they gradually began to ease their way back into the game to reduce the Bray lead to seven points at the interval.
The second half started brightly again for Bray as they notched up further scores to extend their lead. Once again however, Eire Og experienced a period of dominance and as the game entered the final stages, the Bray lead was again reduced to seven points. As tiredness set in on both sides, the game became somewhat scrappy. In the final minutes scores for Bray from Vicki Lennon and Niamh Coleman secured the Bray win. Best for Bray on a very hot day was Sinead Boland (02-02) whose tireless running was always a threat to the visitors defence. Sheena Smith and Siobhan Egan held the defensive lines well for Bray, while Michaela Shelley worked hard to link defence and attack. With just three matches remaining Bray are looking odds-on to reach the semi-final play offs at least.
