We played our first game in the Junior A Championship on Friday 1st July in Blessington. The Junior A championship is played in two groups of six teams with the top two teams in each group qualifying for the semi-finals. Our other opponents in the group are Blessington, Eire Og, Kilmacanogue and St Patricks. We started the game very well but were guilty of some poor shooting. In their first attack Baltinglass were gifted a goal through indecision in our back line and they led by 1.02 to nil. Thankfully that was the only time that our backs were hesitant with the full back line of Eoin O Dea, Peter Walsh and Ed Keating playing very well. They were fronted by an attacking half back line of the Ciaran O Connor, (returning after exams), Liam Mc Graynor and Alan Corr. Bray came more into the game. There was a great battle in midfield between our pairing of Des Kelly/Eoin Mc Mahon and Peadair Osbourne/Anthony Nolan of Baltinglass. We got two points back through David Sullivan and Declan Snow. Then after a great run through the middle of the Baltinglass defence, Ray Lamb's goal bound shot was well saved by the keeper but Enda Molloy was on hand to net the rebound. Further points by Des Kelly and Declan Snow left us leading at half time by 1.04 to 1.03. We had a good start to the second half with points from LiamMc Graynor and Des Kelly to put us three ahead. We then missed chances from play and frees to go into a commanding lead. Baltinglass capitalised on those misses to draw level with three points and then went into a two point lead with time running out. Bray rallied and scored 2 points from frees by Des Kelly to level and had an opportunity to win with the last kick of the game but it went narrowly wide. Along with those already mentioned other players to play well were, our goalkeeper, Stephen Carton, Daire Lohan, Mikey Browne and Cathal O Dualleachain, Team: Stephen Carton, Eoin O Dea, Peter Walsh, Ed. Keating, Alan Corr, Liam Mc Graynor (1pt), Ciaran O Connor, Des Kelly (4pts), Declan Snow(2pts), Ray Lamb, Daire Lohan, Enda Molloy (1gl), Mikey Browne, David Sullivan (1pt), Cathal O Dualleachan, Tadgh Dornan, John Walsh.
