Bray Emmets 1-13, Newcastle 0-13:
Bray Emmets fought back from 5 points down, early in the second half, to win their first game in the Division 3 League against a strong Newcastle side. Emmets started well and dominating the first 15 minutes going into a 0-4 to 0-1 point lead. They then seemed to lose concentration, and their shape, and found themselves down by 3 points at half time. The Newcastle side continued to dominate at the start of the second half with the Bray side conceding a lot of frees.
With 20 minutes to go and 5 points down the Emmets side started their fight back. An opportunist goal by John Walsh brought the Emmets side to within one point of Newcastle. Some excellent direct football by Bray, who scored 1-10 from play, saw them dominated the last quarter of this match. All the starting forwards managed to get on the score sheet. Best for Bray were Lyndsey, O'Neill, Doyle and Shanagher at the back, Kinch and Finn in the middle and McAnaspie, Fox and Walsh up front. Well done to minor players Eoghan Wogan and Adam Benson. This is the first win for this side in over 12 months and the team management would like to thank all the players that turned up on the day. The next match is away to Enniskerry in 2 weeks time.
