Senior Footballers edge out Hollywood

14 September, 2013

On Saturday evening, the Senior Footballers rounded off a fabulous Kick Fada event when they hosted Hollywood in the Senior Football League at Páirc Emmet Bhré. Hollywood has been a bit of a bogie team for Bray for the last number of years so it was great to get a victory even if it was by the narrowest of margins. Despite having the support of a big home crowd, probably the biggest crowd to watch a league match in Bray for many years, the home side didn’t really get going until halfway through the first half. After 10 minutes Hollywood had 1-3 on the scoreboard to Bray’s single point (by Paul Cunningham) but from then until halftime on it was all Bray. Adam Conway scored 1-2, Niall McGraynor added 2 points and Des Kelly and Paul Cunningham got a point each just before the break all without reply from the visitors.
The second half started well for Bray with another point from Paul Cunningham but Hollywood replied immediately with a point. Mark Lenihan and John O’Keeffe added a point each for Bray but Hollywood kept well in the game with 4 points without reply before John O’Keeffe steadied things with a point for Bray but the last 10 minutes were very tense with both teams exchanging points. Paul Cunningham scored the last point for Bray with a well taken free. At the final whistle Bray were ahead by a single point. Final score: Emmet Bhré 1-12 Hollywood 1-11.
