The senior football team travelled down to Shillelagh to take on
the locals in a tough dogged encounter. They came away with another
two valuable league points having withstood a Shillelagh onslaught
in the first quarter of the second half.
Bray started purposely, asserted themselves strongly and
dictated most of the first half. Playing with a strong wind they
pinned Shillelagh in their own half. Ray Lambe opened the scoring
with a well taken point but shortly afterwards had to leave the
field with a sprained wrist. Points from Niall MacGraynor Stephen
Fox settled nerves and a pile-driver of a goal from Fox put them
into the driving seat. Further points from Mikey Browne, Niall
MacGraynor, John O Keeffe and Oisin o ÓhAnnaidh meant they went in
at half time 1-8 to 0-1 in front.
In the second half Shillelagh came out all guns blazing and set
up camp in the Bray half .A goal and three points without reply
from Bray necessitated a few swift changes. Stephen Fox was moved
to midfield and the young Niall MacCague was introduced. With Liam
MacGraynor acting as sweeper Bray got another grip on the game .Two
wonderful points from MacGraynor sealed victory for Bray.
