Bray Emmets 2-06 – Kiltegan 2-13

14 June, 2008

Senior Football Championship.  Our men's senior footballers lost their first match against Kiltegan in the group stages of the championship last Saturday 14.6 in Aughrim.  This was always going to be a tough game for our lads but the loss of some players through injury made it even more difficult.  The Emmet's got off to a good start and led by two points when they conceded the first of two soft goals in the first half.  The lads fought back and a goal by Mikey Browne left Kiltegan leading by three points at half time.

In the second half Kiltegan went five points up, but a goal by our centre back Sean Quinn brought us right back into the game.  The difference between the teams in the last ten minutes was that Kiltegan took there chances and scored some nice points whereas the Emmet's could not convert the chances that came there way.The next match, which is against Arklow Gers/Ballymoney which will probably be on the Sat.28.6, is a must win game.

Best for the  Emmets were Paul O Keeffe, Ronan O Brien, Sean Quinn, Daragh O hAnnaidh, Paul Barry Ray Lambe, John O Keeffe, Mikey Browne and Brendan O'hAnnaidh.  Scorers:  M. Browne, S. Quinn 1gl, B O Hannaidh, 2pts, R. Lambe, J. Kinch, P. Barry, J.O Keeffe 1pt.
