Senior Hurling

14 March, 2015

Our first match in the Dublin league for the 2015 season was away to St Finbar's in Cabra. Newly promoted to Division 5 we were short a huge number of players, for one reason or another, but managed an excellent win on a score line of 3.15 to 12 points.

Slow to start, we eventually got going with a great goal from Brian Duggan (Duggs), soon followed by another from Luke O’Reilly who also scored a great point from a side line, Cian O’Byrne kept the score ticking with frees and was proving to be a hand full for the Finbar's defence, before half time Nicky Sweeney scored a monster point to leave us well in control at the break 2.8 to 3 points.

The second half was a much tighter affair with the home team coming into the game with some fine scores, however we responded well, the McCormack brothers Eoin & Ben engineering some lovely scores, Eoin following his great goal against Glenmore last week in the Leinster league with another. Darragh Henderson, Harry and Lacey were under immense pressure at times in the half back line but dealt with it really well, Darragh Moloney was outstanding in the goal, and kept a clean sheet. Lorcan Pratt is back and looking fit, Mick Walsh and Paul Barry put in a good shift. One would say it was an overall team performance against a very powerful and physical side. Two subs were introduced, Jordan and Sean Moloney back after injury.

Next match is at home 29th March and your support would be greatly appreciated, in the meantime if you fancy a trip to Bagenalstown, Carlow, on the Monday 23rd, we play Erin’s Own at 7.30pm in the Leinster league.
