Leinster Senior Hurling League

28 March, 2015

Our senor hurlers had their first game in Division 2 of the Leinster League on Saturday 28th February in Old Connaught against Glenmore of Kilkenny. After a closely fought contest Bray emerged winners on a score line of 2.11 to 1.11. The second game was away to Erin’s Own of Bagenalstown, Carlow on Monday 23rd March.
The travel time to Bagenelstown was made much longer as a result of an accident on the motorway. Despite the delay, the game started on time and the Erin’s Own pitch was in excellent condition which suited both teams as they tried to play fast open hurling. Bray made a very good start to the game and held a lead of 7 points to 3 at half time. The second half was a much tighter affair with Erin’s Own drawing level in the 58th minute.
Bray responded with three points in the remaining five minutes that were played with Erin’s Own finishing the scoring with a point. Final score Bray 13pts - Erins Own 11pts. The team panel played very well on the night and the management team were very pleased with the commitment of all the players.
Team: Padraig Doyle, Paul Barry, Peter Kiely, Harry Stephenson, Luke Maloney, Jim Doyle, Karl Lacey, Diarmuid Masterson, (5pts) Daire Henderson, Ben Mc Cormack, Eoin Mc Cormack (2pts), Barry Cunningham, Cian O’ Byrne (3pts), Liam Kenny, Darragh Maloney (3pts). The last game in the league against Portlaoise will not now take place because Bray have now qualified for the semi-finals of the league and will be hoping for a home draw. Bray will play the winners of Kilmacow(Kilkenny) or Ballinamere (Offaly) in the semi-final.
